I genuinely feel that Seth Rollins has no backbone (Rollins on Graves' podcast)
The way his character has been portrayed for a while, it seems like they're serving him steaming piles of shit and he gladly eats it up because he's happy to be there. Don't get me wrong, financial security is important but even Dean Ambrose / Jon Moxley walked away when he realized he was stuck in a rut and not growing as a performer. I also have a theory that Rollins isn't just the teacher's pet or "the company man", he's just not that bright. While he's main-eventing PPVs and major shows, his partner is clearly the superior performer and champion. Last night's Firefly segment killed any and all hope I had in him. Fuck him!

I think it has more to do with nobody in WWE knowing how to portray a main event face other than as a hard worker with a good attitude and a catchphrase.
Rollins is just the latest example, but every single time they push anyone remotely interesting up the card as a face, they become the exact same character. |
I’m trying to think of the last time they pushed a face to the main event and he didn’t become that character.

Also, while folks like to reminisce his heel turn (J&J Security and The Authority), I don't remember him giving any stellar performances on the mic. He'd often flub, his opening segment promos would go on forever, and not to mention the over the top reactions. |

Becky Lynch is absolutely boring now. Come on.

Styles is a good one.

It also doesn’t help that nobody can cut a promo anymore, but even good talkers like the Miz, Ambrose, Sheamus, and Owens become bland as soon as they get pushed as a face.
|
Agreed. Other than Styles, I can't think of a single face champion in recent times who was revered by everyone.
|
As much as I loved the WM match, Kofi's title reign was below average at best.
|
That one promo segment against Orton where he showed some personality.
|
WWE have forgotten you’re supposed to want to live vicariously through babyfaces. It doesn’t help matters that hardly anyone has main event instincts anymore.
|
I am listening to Rollins on Corey Graves' new podcast and it's absolutely pathetic. Instead of taking ownership of the issue, he's resorted to calling the fans fickle.

Seth is such a weiner. He’s like that kid who buys the teacher a present and looks around the class to see who notices. Whenever the teacher chastises the class, he’s like “I wasn’t doing that.”

People’s opinions become informed and change over time. You don’t get entitled to a gold star just because you put effort in. If you’ve been playing the same song over and over again and no one wants to hear it anymore, it doesn’t mean people are obligated to buy the re-release.
|
In what other form of entertainment would the fans be responsible for not liking something as opposed to the people producing the product being responsible for making something people like? It’s an insane excuse that only seems to exist in WWE’s world.
|
Gaming?
Although guess more in the sense of people being in bewilderment of why others don't like genuinely good games and/or blame others for some good games flopping in sales while stuff that is generally despised keeps dominating in sales. |
Well yeah. That’s fans blaming other fans. I’m talking the company blaming others. You usually don’t hear about gaming companies blaming the fans for not liking their games and just making the same shit while telling fans they should like what they get. That would be ridiculous.
|
Yeah you're right. At most you might get a disgruntled employee or someone higher up lashing out because of a certain instance but then get quickly punished or fired for it. WWE is pretty much on another level when it comes to being petty over fan reactions.
