Songs that take you back to a particular moment in your life.

Which song, when you listein to it, puts you in a nostalgic mood and takes you back to the events of a particular moment in your life?

For me, "If You're Not the One" by Daniel Benningfeld, brings back memories of my college orientation where I met the girl of my dreams. Not to sound too cliched, but she was everything I could want in a girl, which made her perfect in my eyes. I didn't have deep feelings for her during the 3 day, 2 night orientation, but my feelings for her did deepen when I got home, whcih was the day of the black out in NYC. With nothing to do due to the black out, I just recollected memories of the recent orientation I attented, and thoughts of her kept coming to mind. I realized I probably should've asked for her cell number, or at least her AIM, but I was just too love strucken to think of anything else at the time. I don't want to make this a sappy post, so I will just conclude that she was the girl of my dreams, and that Daniel Benningfeld song, "If you're not the one", reminds me of her and takes me back to the time I first met her at my college orientation.

Anyone else have a song that brings them back to a particular moment in their life?

I knew I was going to get one of these questions. The answer is no. She was an 18, at the time, y/o girl. And to answer another question, I did get her number the next time I saw her. :y:

I listen to a lot of music only during certain moods, and it nearly ruins the band all together for me.

Just recently nearly happened to me with DMB, but I managed to just stop listening to them and now all is good.

That song brings back one particular moment for me. I remember I first heard that song back in the summer of 97, on the car radio on my way to Jones Beach. After hearing that song, it was in my head all day, and then when I got I saw the music video for it. Anyways, the song has a nice rhythm, and is definately a great summer song.

I first heard this song in June/July of 2000. I was in the 9th grade, at the time, and saw the music video on MTV. Personally, I thought the music video sucked, but the more I listeined to the song, the more fascinated I was with the lyrics, and that is wht makes the song very special to me. Songs that have great lyrical content, that speak to me, are the ones I enjoy most. These songs, like the Daniel Benningfeld I mentioned, has amazing lyrics that remind me, take me back to, or put me in a state of mind where I am just wandering off, visualizing the lyrics in my mind.

I used to sing along to it when I was a little kid while watching MTV. That was long ago.</font>

Hmm....

Paper Lanterns by Green Day makes me think of my ex a lot, but now it all seems stupid

Summer of 69 (can't remember who's it's by!) makes me think of the last few months because I was really happy at the time and had everything I wanted.

that "Bad to the Bone" song. I used to sing it all the time after having watched Terminator 2 about 5 billion times.

I know what song that is! We had to learn it in primary school... Just looking for the name now...
JAMAICA FARWELL
Recorded by Harry Bellafonte, 1956

Down the way the nights are gay
and the sun shines daily the
Mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship,
and when I Reached Jamaica I made a stop
But I m sad to say I m on my way,
wont be back for a many a day
my heart is down my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl (boy) in Kingston town

Sounds of laughter everywhere,
And the dancing girls sway to and fro,
I must declare, my heart is there,
Though I've been from Maine to Mexico.

Down at the market, you can hear,
Ladies cry out while on their heads they bear,
Aki rice, swordfish are nice,
And the rum is fine any time of year.

I try not to listen to songs that remind me of stuff, cause they arent always for the best. But the song "Bother" by Corey Taylor..... I still give it a listen at times.
