WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/20/20 feat. The Gronk and stuff I guess
Show's on. Already just as awkward as it was last week.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tonight <a href="https://twitter.com/Goldberg?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Goldberg</a> & <a href="https://twitter.com/WWERomanReigns?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@WWERomanReigns</a> will go face-to-face (while still standing at least six feet apart) <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ReasonsToWatchSmackDown?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#ReasonsToWatchSmackDown</a></p>— WWE Creative Humor (@WWECreative_ish) <a href="https://twitter.com/WWECreative_ish/status/1241027694281797639?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
Mojo slapping Cole on the ass was really weird
|
Lol
There are kneepads in wwe |
Elias wearing a crown looks like the macho king
|
That opening segment was a somewhat entertaining trainwreck.
Guess WWE learned nothing from this past week's AEW and NXT. |
I flipped this on because there’s no sports to watch and I figured I’d see if they picked up anything from AEW and try a different, more engaging approach.
Opens with Cole in the ring awkwardly talking up WrestleMania being “too big to handle one night”, Mojo and Gronk hyped up in front of no fans, bad acting, and empty seats as far as the eye can see. Oh and they’re replaying Wyatt/Cena from WM30. Suppose they’ll just be phoning it. |
That video package featuring last week's stuff with Bryan and Sami's crew just makes WWE's handling of an empty arena show look even more low rent.
|
Bryan & Gulak vs. Sami's boys was good.
Already miss Triple H on commentary and his shenanigans since at least it created some laughs throughout the show. Cole trying to play things straight already making tonight feel less appealing to watch. |
If it weren't for the whole cruise ship issue, it would have been cool if they put everyone on a cruise ship and decorated it up like a pirate ship for Mania. They wouldn't even need to move the ship out of port.

Oh Dear

Sasha looks good in leopard print
|
Lol random Tamina
|
Lol no Carmella. And no Graves on commentary.
They’re definitely quarantined. |
That was such a terrible payoff for the 6 Pack Smackdown Women's title match announcement.
|
Lacey and Dana and Tamina
oh my |
Lol they cut the entrance out for Bray and Cena.
Best part |
The funnier part of this is Harper on the outside now that hes in AEW
|
WWE replaying this Cena vs. Bray match from Mania 30 reminded me of how much I hated it at the time. Not soo much because the match itself was terrible but because of its ending and it not meshing with the "changing of the guard" like feel Mania had.
Also Wikipedia says this match was over 20 minutes long so going to check out for now and play with my dog and do other stuff. |
Luke Harper appearing on both Dynamite and SD this week

Lol
|
 at this Dirt Sheets segment.
WWE needs to lean more with stuff like this his and less with they've been doing the past week for these empty arena shows. |
Ham and Slam shirt is stupid
|
This stuff by Ziggy lacks the impact since no crowd around to feed off of it.
|

Contract signing segment was pretty dull.
These empty arena shows by WWE haven't been that interesting to watch and made worse in general because this is the level of effort WWE is putting in for the final weeks of Road to Mania. |

Yeah, I have no issue with them being extra cautious. Same for anything that is tying their hands like having just a small pool of wrestlers available and the gathering rules.
Just feel they could do a better job with the empty arena format to make it look less low effort. Something like a mix of what Edge did for his promo on RAW, what AEW did for their show but with less matches, and what NXT did with the video packages but not as extreme. Even relying more on absurd comedy like Austin and Miz & Morrison did would help keep things interesting. Right now, the shows feel awkward because how they are presenting promos and matches while replaying lengthy matches just to waste time instead of putting it to better use for Mania. |
Watching 205 Live for some reason. No one in the PC is really weird. Without fans or graphics or anything other than the wrestlers and the referee, WWE's really awful camera style stands out. So many useless camera cuts.

Oof not even 1 full page on a night where nothing else is on.
Gonna give this one 2/10 Smeatballs https://i.imgur.com/2qbuXiD_d.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2qbuXiD_d.jpg |

Stay safe, tho! :love::love::love::love: |
Dislike “Gronk” already.
|
Yeah.... was gonna say to his signing on "we don't know how he will turn out, he could surprise us all"..... but..... pretty sure he is terrible
|
If "Wrestlemania" is slated to take place in an empty performance centre they're probably better off delaying it as long as possible to get to a stage where restrictions are lifted. Raw and Smackdown have just looked hokey as all fuck, the promos are awkward and they have no audience to play to. Not having a crowd to react to bumps also takes away massively from the overall experience. Everything just feels flat and muted.
