Fuck 2020. |
If there was anyone from wrestling that I wished wrote a book it would be Howard.
So sad. Seemed like such a nice guy. R.I.P |
Not The Fink :'(
|
this sucks. Poor Howard -- but he got to do what he loved for a long time, despite some of the bullying that came his way.
|
:(
|
"The winner of this match, and NNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW"
|
The voice of dreams come true. :'(
|
The only voices of my childhood left are Vince and Jesse Ventura.
RIP Fink |
He was one of those guys like Steve Martin who just looked like he was born at the age of 55 and never aged a day after that.
|
:(
Distinctly remember getting to shows early when he was still full-time and yelling to him how awesome he was. It was when the arena would still be quasi-quiet so talent could DEFINITELY hear you. Every single time that guy was so damn appreciative to be praised. Always made him grin, ear-to-ear. Had ringside seats on one occasion, he came over and thanked me. Humble, awesome dude from my insanely light interaction with him so many years ago. Voice will never be matched. |
:'( RIP Fink
|
Yup, definitely had an aura to his voice. No one will ever be able to match it when someone won a title.
|
This sucks. RIP.

And one of his more infamous "angles." <iframe width="1392" height="525" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/37xJjNkDEuI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Rest In Peace, Howard Finkel :(

Sad news, he is synonymous with my memories of wrestling from when I was younger.
RIP |
Nver realised he was in a Wheelchair, Pritchard just put a pic up on twitter of the 2 of them.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Rest in Peace Howard Finkel.<br>Greatest ring announcer of all time.<br>Historian and walking wrestling encyclopedia.<br>Hall of Famer.<br>Loyal.<br>Great friend. <br>Love you Fink. <a href="https://t.co/tqvVq6gMeR">pic.twitter.com/tqvVq6gMeR</a></p>— Bruce Prichard (@bruceprichard) <a href="https://twitter.com/bruceprichard/status/1250819260202573832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 16, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
I actually had to enlarge that because it looks so much like Ole Anderson
|
Wow, that’s a shitty 24hours for wrestling.
The video package for him will be incredible. Remember him coming back to be Punk’s personal ring announcer during his programme with Del Rio? R.I.P. The Fink |
Fucking love the Fink. The GOATas far as I'm concerned. Nothing will top his "the winner of this match.........AND NEWWWWWW" followed by the crowd popping.
|
This news really Howard Stinkels.
Love you, Fink. |
:(
|
This heartbreak is scheduled for ONE FALL...
|
He did so much behind the scenes stuff that we never hear about.
He would book wrestlers/managers to do radio spots to promote local shows and also help Okerlund with local pormos The guy Finkel replaced in 1977 at MSG was God awful , so Howard was a breath of fresh air. |
He also did some commentary with Gorilla at a couple of 1984 Meadowlands shows and he was great. I have 1-2 in my collection. I'll post them.
|
An ingrained childhood memory: Fink's voice reading the names of the upcoming live event schedule every week over the Superstars of Wrestling theme "WHEN THE WWF COMES TO YOUR AREA!". Always geeked out when they would be coming across this way (generally from Buffalo NY, then Erie PA, then Youngstown... or they'd come this way as a stop between Pittsburgh and Cleveland) and hear him say "... coming to The Beeghly Center" and he would sting that "b" like only Finkel could.

I don't usually comment on deaths. They're all sad. But there's something surreal about The Fink being gone. Always the best WWF/E ring announcer.

It’s been said that The Fink’s porn collection was legendary.

Didn’t matter where it was on the card, Fink’s announcements had him sounding genuinely excited for every match.
