Memorable Jobber Matches.

We always talk about the classics. The Flair-Steamboats, the Hart-Austins, the Malenko-Guerrero Classics. These... aren't those kind of matches.

I am talking about one sided matches that showcase one particular guy. And they are memorable for one reason or another.

One Example I haven't ever found video of, but I remember was the Headshrinkers vs. these two jobbers. They had a thing where they would "knock one" of the jobbers out before finishing off the other. This one particular night, on Raw, they "knocked out" one of the jobbers, and dragged him to his corner. The other guy comes in, and gets "knocked out" as well. Fatu and Samu look around, seeing the bodies on the floor, then start fighting each other! Eventually, Afa gets them to end the match.

Another example is one I'm sure I posted before, but fuck it. It's too good not to relive.

And one more to hammer the point home...

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dY32macLeFs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Post some of your favorites.

Any jobber with a body worse than mine is memorable.

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 11:06 AM

Watch it through to the end. That's all I'm gonna say.

Also, ring announcer Joe McHugh rules

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 11:10 AM

WWF had a lot of untrained jobbers in the mid 80's. I'll see if I can hunt down the ones I remember.

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 11:12 AM

Ken Patera vs Judo Joe Black for example

xrodmuc316 07-19-2020 01:12 PM

Also, any Steiner Brothers match against any jobbers. They pretty much just murdered them all.

Lock Jaw 07-19-2020 01:14 PM

There was that time TPWW's own Rollermacka appeared in a jobber tag team match on RAW.... I forget against who..... The Ascension maybe?

Rollermacka was never actually tagged into the match, though, so technically remains unpinned.

I made it to 3:49. Holy fuck.

I posted this in my Walk Through History thread because it's a point in time where Wrestling was still real, even to some of the wrestlers. As you saw in the the Shultz Darkside, a lot of the undercard workers back in the day weren't quite told that the business was a work. So you'd have these marks who want so badly to be a wrestler they'd basically do it for free for the chance to get into the ring with a real pro. Enter Lars Anderson. I learned from Tony Schiavonie that this guy was one big bully when it came to "enchancement matches" and this video is proof. I am going to assume the story here is that we have a young trainee getting his chance to work with a real pro, and the rookie likely hasn't been told that wrestling is a work and legit gets his ass kicked until he gets it. Enjoy

I will have to post Koko Ware vs the Patriot. Where Patriot tried to show up Ware and got his soul knocked loose.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-19-2020 01:30 PM

Koko murdered that fucking dude.

Damn. Really well executed here. I think it's obvious by the end that the victim is probably double jointed and able to dislocate his shoulder without any pain. That was fucking brutal to watch though.

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 04:35 PM

There's this match between David Sammartino and jobber Ron Shaw. David was upset with how he was being used so he decided to let Ron Shaw beat him down the entire match and then submit during a bear hug, much to the confusion of the ref and Gorilla Monsoon

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 04:39 PM

There's this match between Bill Dundee and Buddy Landel vs jobbers Jim Jamieson and David Haskins from Memphis 1986. They were trying to get over how vicious Bill and Budro were so Jim Jamieson told them to just beat him to a pulp .

Seanny One Ball 07-19-2020 06:38 PM

That's my favourite ever match

Seanny One Ball 07-19-2020 06:41 PM

This version has better audio.

Bad News Gertner 07-19-2020 07:16 PM

Yeah I was looking for a better version without the static

The promised Koko vs. Patriot.

There's always this gem that I posted last month, and where my avatar is from

Here's another one I remembered.

Bad News Gertner 07-20-2020 06:41 PM

And another one. They just about let anyone in the ring lol

Emperor Smeat 07-20-2020 08:19 PM

Does APA vs. Public Enemy where APA beat the utter crap out of PE count?

Don't think it was originally meant to be a squash or jobber match but PE pissing off the wrong people quickly turned it into that infamous match.

Bad News Gertner 07-20-2020 08:23 PM

I remember hearing something where they thanked the APA backstage after the match

Bad News Gertner 07-20-2020 08:25 PM

There's this match where Sid and Spivey beat the shit out of this jobber who thought he was too good to be jobbing. He later became one of the Dogs Of War in Global

Yeup they did according to Bruce Prichard.

So I think that just kind of told everybody where they were. And Public Enemy, man, they weren’t getting over. They’re supposed to be tough guys… they’re fine and dandy doing everything in the world to somebody else, but taking it is a different situation. So they’re happy giving it out but they didn’t want to take it.”

Bad News Gertner 07-20-2020 08:30 PM

Public Enemy were so fucking shit

I couldn't find the match without Last or Corny's commentary. But it was quite noteworthy.

My second favorite Finlay Squash. Against a dude who botched a fucking leapfrog and took a second to remember he was supposed to bump off the short clothesline, not like he needed to. You know he beat the piss out of the guy, but made it look so good you wouldn't think anything was amiss.

And my favorite. My best guess is that Prince got a little too close to Paula with that sword, and she told Fit to brutalize him.

I believe Lorenzo was Roddy Piper's bodyguard.

Came here to cite this. Pretty sure you told us the jobbers were willing to bleed hard way to sell it. What a fucking beating.

Bad News Gertner 07-21-2020 08:58 AM

There was an era in mid 98 where Bradshaw was doing a Stan Hansen knock off gimmick. Post Blackjack and Pre Acolyte. He was having these matches on Shotgun where he was fucking murdering jobbers every week. Check this match out.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-21-2020 09:08 AM

I love how most of these squashes incorporate at least one brutal fucking lariat.

Chuck Austin ruined it for everyone.
Allegedly Jay Strongbow allowed the jobbers to come in sight unseen so that had to stop in case there was another $20,000,000 lawsuit.

Bad News Gertner 07-21-2020 09:15 AM

And then 16 year old Jeff Hardy came along lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-21-2020 09:17 AM

lol, yet the Hardy Boys were jobbing when they were like 15 and self-trained.
