I'd laugh had Retribution actually legit broke the show's feed by accident.

Guess Retribution got bored of hanging around Kevin Dunn since production quickly went back to normal.

Women's tag match was very good.

Bayley's been taking a bunch of losses recently between the duo which probably shows how low WWE views SD's women's division these days.

Outside of the women's tag match, tonight has been meh for matches so far.

Way too much sports competition tonight plus the Democratic Convention going on as well. Likely why WWE decided to hold off on the ThunderDome's debut till the end of the week.

Swap out Shane with Dario Cueto and this RAW Underground stuff would be a million times more interesting.

Domink channeling his inner Retribution with that sneak attack to Rollins & Murphy.

Guess RAW Underground fights have some sort of hidden time limit for fights.

RAW appears to have fallen out of the top twenty trends, I don't recall that ever happening during the show before.

Wonder if Ali regrets leaving his cushy spot on catering since he's quickly right back to where he was before as just another big nobody on the roster.

WWE somehow managed to pull off 50/50 booking for Crews in a single show.

Gave him the win against Shelton Benjamin earlier in the show and eliminated his SummerSlam opponent MVP in the 6-man tag but then lost to Lashley.

:eek: an actual feud storyline being done for RAW Underground.

And just like that, Nia Fat ruined Raw Underground lmao

HBK's promo ended up being more about Flair than the WWE title match.

:lol: at him getting RKO'd shortly after invoking the SummerSlam tag line.

This week's episode was somewhat dull overall, especially as a go-home show. Maybe the weakest in a while in terms of ring action and a mixed bag for story stuff. Like why give Montez Ford his big payback moment tonight instead of at SummerSlam and same for why tease the reforming of the MMA Horsewomen only for Nia Jax to quickly plow through Baszler's lackeys.

The rumors about SummerSlam being like a go-home show for Payback feels more accurate after watching tonight's RAW.

Feels like the same exact matches every week...

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Remember when there used to be a battle about "official" RAW threads, and needing to merge two or three of them? And they all would have cutsey names, summaries, and jokes in the thread title?

And here we are in darkest timeline 2020, and it has fallen all the way down to "raw 8.17". It's almost like the Keeper's Diary in Resident Evil. You could see the degradation over time from reading it. Went from an actual diary to:

It’s week three. Holy shit.

McIntyre with the now standard "each and every one" part of a promo. :roll:

How are promos meant to sound natural and not scripted if Vince constantly inserts his little cliche sayings into them? That phrase is used constantly like it's how everyone talks, in Vince's mind at least. They can't just say "all of you" or "everyone of you"? No, it has to be "each and every one of you\us".

It's probably the biggest problem with the actual content of the shows. Raw and SmackDown may not have genius booking, but the content could be so much better if it didn't get bogged down in scripted promos and bizarre attempts at "drama."

Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio, on paper, should be a dream match/feud. It became this weird and unrealistic quest for the other man's eye. And Vince gets away with this because he has no competition.

When Rey Mysterio, Goldberg and Jeff Hardy have, by default, become the best promos in wrestling, it might be time to reconsider your method there.

Raw Underground is growing on me.

Retribution has only become dumber.

Neither is growing on me.

We’re told Retribution is this big threat, to the point that heels and faces are putting aside their differences to fight them. But again, they come off more like a bunch of immature delinquents, rather than the deadly anarchists we’re meant to believe they are. They are not intimidating at all, no matter what their numbers advantage is.

Raw Underground is a cool, unique idea, but there’s two major problems with it.

1. Presentation. There’s too much “WWE formula” in it. If you’re going to do something different, go all the way different. Otherwise it just comes off as phony and manafactured. And keep Kevin Dunn far away from it.

2. It needs to be its own separate show. It makes no sense having it on a show where the regular programming sees wrestlers do ten times as much damage to each other and still get up. But after just a couple moves on raw underground, the fights are stopped. These are two very different styles of sports entertainment and they can work on their own, but when you put them on the same show, with the same people participating in both no less, it absolutely shatters kayfabe.

I'm going to be honest, I haven't watched a damn bit of it. Retribution sounds too much like the TNA Aces and Eights storyline for me to even feign interest.

Watching this now. It might be less lame if the commentators didn't go "is that retribution????" every time they're on camera pretending to wreck shit.

I agree with all of this. Retribution does not seem like a group of "tough" people. They seem like teenagers acting out for attention.

Also 100p in on Underground both being its own show and having Kevin Dunn as far away from it as possible. The camera cuts are super disorienting.

Was actually looking forward to Natalya vs. Mickie, instead we get Seth whining to Joe.

I can't believe the people in charge of the camera work get paid for this shit.

The hulu cut is 90 minutes and I've still skipped a bunch of this show.
