Missed the early part of the match but Sky vs. Carter was very good from what I saw. Surprised that this wasn't done as the main event instead.

Probably the best match your going to get out of those two considering their limited skills. Hopefully Dustin Rhodes new wrestling school and them signing Serena Deeb helps improve the quality of their women's division in the near future.

Sydal vs. Spears was pretty good despite being a bit long.

If this was AEW and TNT's test for a potential new Tuesday show, it worked out well since the one hour special was pretty entertaining overall.

While this is a funny exchange, this is one of my problems with Excalibur on pbp. I don't give a flying fuck what the name of the move is, and I'm in no way impressed when he throws out Japanese or Spanish language moves. It's honestly annoying and, for me, pretentious.

I'm sure it's just me. But I'd be just fine with someone saying "man a fireman's carry and so and so dropped his opponents neck right on to his knee. What a brutal move".

We’re laying a very low standard for commentators if we’re saying we don’t want them to know the name of moves. Maybe we could just get Vince back to say “WHATAMANOEUVRE” every time somebody hits something?

It's good when commentators know the names of the moves. But that, in and of itself, doesn't make a good commentator -- it's just one facet.

Mike Tenay was good at knowing the names but using it to tell a story.

Well yeah, but that wasn’t the criticism.

The color commentator in sports broadcasts is supposed to be the expert of the group who fills in details to help the audience understand what’s going on. In that role I am absolutely fine with Excalibur knowing all the moves.

100% what I was thinking last night. Tony or Heenan would react to a luchador doing something they'd never seem and Tenay would chime in naming the move and throw in some insight. Excalibur doesn't do that. He just rattles off the moves like they're as common place as a hip toss.

Except he does play by play. Taz is really good at weaving in the names of moves and explaining/giving insight. I don't think Excalibur is good at that.
