Need for Speed: Underground

Incase there was already a topic on the other boards, I really don't feel like going to search for it.:meh:

I'm considering either buying this game or Tokyo Extreme Racer 3. From what I hear, NFSU gets boring after awhile and also takes only a few days to beat. It also doesn't really have any replay value.

Anybody have some other thoughts to help?

I TOLD YOU. You would like for a while but it gets boring and you just do the races for the new stuff rather then the fun of the racing. Once I have everything I doubt I'm going to really play the Underground again. Rather just customize my import and destroy the easy AI.

Fun game for a while, so if I offended anyone because they love the game then I'm sorry.

I haven't played it, but from what DS told me I'd just wait for GT4 to come out.

GT4 is different though. Yes, they're both driving games, but NFSU is more of an import, street racing, while GT4 is a handful of cars that aren't just imports and more on tracks.

But, GT4 looks amazing. If anyone hasn't seen anything on it, go look up some of the pictures. Brilliance.

Kind of. The whole street racing thing and stuff like that are pretty much just like Midnight Club but you get rankings, magazine covers, and you are able to customize pretty much every aspect of your car.

Best racing game this year. I for one didn't get bored of it after a few days.

If your into import cars, get this. If your not, go get PGR 2 then.

Exactly what I wanted to say.

NFSU is pretty good. I downloaded it, and have one of those madcatz steering wheels and gas/brake pedels. That makes all the difference in these types of racing games IMO. using a mouse/keybored/controller would reduce how fun this game is.

But download it instead of buying it ;)

Oh trust me I already thought of that...BUT not only do I only have a 16 mb vid card (laptop), i'm on dial-up. :nono:

Sorry, but PGR2 is easily superior to NFS:UG

KleptoKlown 12-09-2003 02:07 PM

I played the first project gotham on xbox and didnt really like it. havent tried #2 yet though.

does it have as many customizable options for your cars as NFSU?

I don't believe so but I could be wrong I haven't played it. I still believe that NFSU has more combinations and specific detail.

Jonster 12-09-2003 04:01 PM

It doesn't have that many car customisation options beyond colour of the car, but I find the handling and actual gameplay of PGR2 so much more better than NFS:UG, and I'm not really bothered about the customisation of the cars

KleptoKlown 12-09-2003 04:15 PM

NFSU as far as driving goes, is probably the best racing game i've played. Especially on manual transmission.

Are you using a steering wheel/gas and brake combo or a controller/mouse/keybored?

So blockbuster finally had it to rent, and it was better than I was expecting. Underground mode was decent and the many ways to customize your car was awesome. Basically had me going through the Underground mode, but after that, not much else to do. Only worth buying for multiplayer :y:...

Bo 12-15-2003 01:15 AM

Yeah my girlfriend wants it for christmas. Ill probally get it though.

Jason Cage 12-15-2003 09:38 PM

NFSU, i thought wasn't really good. I dont feel it brings up anything new to the car games table. Graphics are better, but...it just lacks. Imo anyway.

Kane Knight 12-17-2003 12:44 AM

I felt it was a pretty weak game. When both me and Rob get bored with the same game, it's a pretty bad sign. Is it me, or do the controls actually manage to handle worse than Need For Speed Hot Pursuit? The graphics were uninspiring, and even shitty handling couldn't make this game superchallenging. The options are cool, but not enough to save the game. Plus, what the fu</>ck were they thinking with the car selection?

DegenerationY 12-17-2003 01:22 AM

Yeah, I have it.

For some reason, my roommate LOVES it, but I got really sick of it after the first couple days.

I hate the graphics, it's way too slick-looking.

Also, it's really boring. All the tracks are pretty much the same. I also don't like the way that the Nitrous works.

I'd rather waste my time with SegaGT for X-Box any day.
