TPWW’S TOP TEN: RING GEAR. FINAL LIST REVEALED!
We’re back with an all new TPWW’S TOP TEN with a new category suggested by our very own Destor. If you’re new here, I’ll give you a category, you give me your Top Ten nominations unranked and in no particular order. We’ll compile the lists and come up with “TPWW’S TOP TEN” for the week. One nomination equals one point. Top Ten nominees win.
This week’s topic: Who has the best ring gear in wrestling history? Nominations are open until 8:00 am EST, on Friday July 2, 2021. Previous TPWW’S TOP TEN LISTS: SPOILER: show |
Are we including entrance attire or strictly gear worn after the bell rings?
|
To me, it’s the whole ensemble.
|
Ric Flair
Gorgeous George The Undertaker Rick Rude Honky Tony Man Randy Savage Road Warriors Mick Foley Vader Roddy Piper |
Will definitely replace some of those as I think of more.
|
Not gonna read anyone else's choices before posting mine.... gonna think and post later....
|
Adrian Street
Ric Flair Greg Valentine Miss Elizabeth Macho Man Undertaker Rick Rude Gorgeous George Vader when he had the helmet Sherri Martel |
I remember back in like 2005 when you'd ask TPWW what their gear would look like if they became a wrestler, half would answer "just a simple black boots and tights" because they were a no nonsense submission machine.
|
Randy Savage - totally memorable for me.
Rick Rude - those tights were hilarious Bret Hart - always loved when Bret would update his tights. Hogan - can't deny the red and yellow, ripping the shirt, plus his Hollywood Hogan look was awesome. Shawn Michaels - this is me sending a vote for 12 year old me. I thought Shawn's tights were awesome and I didn't think they chaps were as gay then as I do now. Taker - Like Bret I always looked forward to Taker's gear update s my favorite look is probably around Summer 98. Ultimate Warrior - the tassles on his boots and around his arms... Cool air spray tights always changing, crazy hair. It all worked and was super memorable. Diesel - Diesels gear was fn bad ass and I loved it. Goldust - totally ridiculous but come on, he was over as hell and found his way into a nightmare I had as kid that I'll never forget (tried to rape me). The look was one of a kind. Sting - from the surfer look which always had cool new tights to The Crow, Stings look was always memorable and something to look out for as far as changing and evolving. |
Macho Man
Rick Rude Ric Flair Shawn Michaels Ultimate Warrior Young Bucks Demolition Jimmy Garvin Mr Perfect Brutus Beefcake Sting |
Macho Man
Undertaker Road Warriors Andre the Giant TNA Sting where he was wearing gear halfway crow halfway surfer (but not Joker Sting) Raven Mankind Rey Mysterio Bret Hart Charlotte Flair once again for token female (otherwise I would have just said Ric Flair) |
Hogan probably should have been on my list, because honestly nothing more iconic than the red and yellow..... Removing my token female inclusion and adding Hogan in her spot...
|
Raven is a good pick.
|
A lot of my picks are gonna be ones that are slightly different each time/week.
Cena when he was doing the throwback jerseys, loved those Jeff Hardy, the ever changing face paint Ultimate Warrior Demolition LOD Sting Flair Boogeyman Rey Mysterio The Natural Disasters Honorable mention to Iron Sheik, those boots are the best |
I'm a sucker for a really nice robe. Hence the Greg Valentine pick.
Also, swapping in Miss Elizabeth. The ways she dressed and looked was so huge in the Macho pairing. Gorgeous, well dressed but not slutty so she appealed to both young men and older women who hated that this classy lady was being treated poorly by Macho Man. |
Jushin Liger
Rick Rude Kane HBK Jericho Great Muta Road Warriors Asuka Ultimate Warrior Ultimo Dragon |

Muta has always had the best entrance attire and masks, imo

He's no La Parka
|
Tempted to throw Liger in there. His look definitely stood out as a kid.
|
Gotta consider Mick Foley, too. Original Cactus, original Mankind, corporate Mankind, Dude Love. Always had unique attire that fit the given gimmick perfectly.

Shit there are so many good ones I missed

AKI Man

Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels Randy Savage Rick Rude Steve Austin Great Muta Jushin Liger Hiroshi Tanahashi Ultimo Dragon Dean Malenko |
Justin Liger always looked silly to me.
Like a big plastic toy. |

I’m also bumping Kane for Dean Malenko. Kane’s original outfit was good, but he also had shitty ones. Malenko seems like a weird choice, but I always liked the simplicity of his gear. And I associate it with good wrestling, lol. |

It was before wrestlers were just nerds TRYING to look like toys/video game characters though.

1. Flair
2. Hogan 3. Bruiser Brody 4. Savage 5. Mysterio 6. HBK 7. Taker 8. Vader 9. Jesse Ventura 10. RVD |
Oooooo Jesse Ventura is a good one
|
Also, surprised at the lack of females
|
I was tempted to put up bull Nakano, but the best parts of her look was the hair and face paint, which isn't technically gear.
You could probably make a case for Sensational Sherri. |
Brodys furry boots are lgendary and deserve recognition
|
i cant think of a female who's gear id put in a top 10. trish is prob the highest and i doubt she'd crack top 25 as great as her gear could be. tons of competition.
|
also Ventura has cracked both my top 10s so far. unexpected but valid i think
