I hope they don't fully make him a likable "good guy"..... |
Vigilante being a quasi Deadpool kinda works.

Did not expect Adrian Chase/Vigilante to be a doofus.
Looks like they are def trying to push Peacemaker as a full on babyface now, with him hesitating to kill children (despite it being in his motto) |
There's been edgy anti-heroes all the time. But absolutely nobody is going to sell a kid killer as a hero.
|
Good music.

Watching this now.... oh my God those opening credits
|
What did I just watch?
|
|
The intro sequence is good at first but it’s also massively tiresome after only three episodes.
It’s a good show but it’s probably the worst thing James Gunn has done so far. It’s also especially obvious that’s Jennifer Holland married him for his creative control, because she’s not good in this at all. |
John Cena is predictably likeable and funny though, so that’s something.
|
I'm still liking the intro sequence.
Which one is Jennifer Holland? Oh, Harcourt.... I think she's been pretty good.... hot braud.... |
Love this show. John Cena is a great actor.
|
Finished this up yesterday. In my book James Gunn can do no wrong. The fact he made hair metal not only fun, but listenable speaks volumes.
Somebody broke down the opening dance sequence and it was crazy how detailed it was to each individual character. Eagly was the shit. |
I preferred this over Guardians of the Galaxy.
Also, unlike Seanny, I thought Jennifer Holland was very good. |

What a turnaround |
It was a good effort to distract from the back stabbing and hateful rhetoric gimmick he's got going.
Seriously though, I love him and he's a fantastic dude. |

Ugh. |
Tuned out after 4 episodes, should I finish it?
|
If you enjoyed those four episodes, yes. If you did not enjoy them, no.
|
I’d say the strength of the show is its potential weakness. The dialogue is both sharp and overbearing. There’s a delicate balance it needs to strike and it always teeters on the edge of undercutting the urgency or seriousness of “the stakes.”

Well it definitely pays stuff off that you’d have thought was otherwise blasé. but upon it being paid off you are like “nice@JamesGunn.”
|
It does get better, Savio. There’s an awful lot going on at the start but it actually goes somewhere and comes together beautifully. It is probably my favourite DC production now. I’m about to start a rewatch next week. I feel bad at not enjoying the first couple of episodes as much as the rest.

a while back bautista was talking shit about wanting to work more nuanced character roles than other wrestlers turned actors, show he has real chops. cena definitely showing he can work on that level here, too. i won't say i was surprised, but i didn't expect him to be as good as he was.

James Gunn’s best film is still “Super”.
He knows how to write humour and pathos into hero based entertainment better than anybody. |
Agreed. Not an easy thing to do to transition from ludicrous humour to grave seriousness the way he does.
|
I have no background in DC universe or whatever. I'm not even a big superhero movie guy. I binged the whole season in 1 night. Good shit. Made me look up the history of the characters and stuff on YouTube.
