Rate the Game: Week 101
Oh, right, I still have to keep doing this.
Well, we're in triple-digit territory now, folks, as we kick off week 101 of this sucker. Ending things last week with 100 and a game like Super Mario RPG would've been fine with me, but I pledged more than that, so more is what you're going to get. Speaking of Super Mario RPG, how did it fare? What spot on the leaderboard will it claim? <select><option selected="">Rate the Game Results <option>1. Ghosts n' Goblins (2.14)</option> </select> Well, if nothing else, Ghosts n' Goblins' spot doesn't seem to be threatened anytime soon. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars earns itself some high praise but it ends up scraping at the door alongside Mega Man and Donkey Kong and doesn't enter the elite top ten despite its respectable 4.44 overall average. It's alright; I have no doubt that if ClockShot and DAMN iNATOR had played it, they'd have given it fives, too. But what will they, or any of us, be giving this week's game? The bowl has work to do! <iframe src="https://giphy.com/embed/5kiHuJCshijYoG2fMP" width="480" height="269" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="https://giphy.com/gifs/5kiHuJCshijYoG2fMP">via GIPHY</a></p> Well, we begin the countdown of the final 25 games with this lovely gem, one I remember being specifically requested. It's another Konami romp through beat-'em-up territory with some familiar reptilian faces, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time! No, not that shitty movie from your childhood that made you question everything. It's the arcade title that sends our four heroes in a half shell through a temporal adventure. What do you say, TPWW? Are we talking "Cowabunga" or what? Let's do the rating thing and we'll see you next week! |
Pretty sure I played this, but I could actually have just played the original arcade game only. I remember it being pretty radical and always looking forward to playing it... would always spend all my quarters on it instead of any other offerings....
|
Yeah. I played this. All I remember is the opening cutscene with Krang stealing the Statue of Liberty. The rest is a blur.
I'll give it 3, I guess. |
I fucking love this game
|

|

I feel like if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Manhattan Project hadn't been released I'd be more about this game than I already am. Three beat-'em-up titles in such a short span is a bit excessive. That said, this game is still fun. If they could have held off on some of the material from The Manhattan Project and used it for this game it would've been even better.

It was pizzarific.
Five stars. |

I remember being excited when I heard about The Hyperstone Heist for the Sega Genesis. Not owning a Genesis made me upset that they were getting another Turtles game and no one else was. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that it was just a version of this game.

PLayed the hell out of it on SNES if I recall.
|
I remember Krang being an absolute bitch in this game. Found him harder than Shredder I think.
|
Krang was definitely a coin hose. Cheap fight.

I feel ripped off living 2 years after the date Neon Night Riders was set; this is not the future I was promised.

Big Apple, 3AM and Sewer Surfing really memorable themes... 1 of the most memorable beat them ups, actually did beat this one with a friend who was more talented at it than I was
Turtles discussions in the VG forum always get a lil heated... heh... |
