I want to do a "best puncher" poll (or maybe a tourney)
Perhaps we could decide on the top 12 punchers of all time and do a tournament or just a poll. I feel like TPWW has a crew of guys who respect the "small things" wrestlers do. And a punch is about one of the most simple, most crucial parts of a move-set that's often overlooked.
Also, feel free to describe what makes a great puncher. Some names I'll throw out to get the ball rolling: Terry Funk Randy Savage Jerry Lawler Make some suggestions, let's try to come to a consensus on who's in the discussion, and we'll decide whether it's a tourney or a once-off poll. |
Scott Hall

Does Bobby Eaton belong in this convo?
|
Possibly since Eaton was pretty perfect at everything he did but I don’t remember his punches particularly standing out.
|
Bret had a pretty great punch, too.
|
I wanted to say Bret but I love him so much and wasn't sure if I was being biased.
They called his punches the rubber mallets. |
Dick Murdoch
Jeff Jarrett |

Big Bossman

Hmm I know people like Bossman's punches but they could also miss by a mile.

Shane McMahon

frig off, Screech!
|
Triple H, HBK & The Undertaker
|
Ric Flair
|
I remember liking Piper's punches. But not sure they're good enough to be in the discussion.
Dustin Rhodes maybe deserves an honourable mention, especially in recent years. |
Bret Hart
|
Tully
|
Chuck Palumbo I remember having a good punch
|
a lot of the ones id put over have already been mentioned (and several awful punchers thrown in for good measure i suppose [and ill save my thoughts on said punches for the tourney for dramtic effect.]) real talk roman reigns super man punch is incredibly technical and not at all easy to do so well.
bill dundee had a fine punch. very underrated |
Scott Hall
|
But for real Scott Hall needs to be on here.
|
On another note--if we want to talk overrated punchers, Undertaker has to be on the list.
|
The Hands of Stone, Ron Garvin.
:shifty: |
Cowboy Bob Orton and his dreaded knockout punch
|
I think we can assume that Mae Young and Mark Henrys child has a pretty mean punch even if we've never seen it.
