Kinda brought this up in the big replies thread but: Who do you think can carry the load through the summer?

you know youve got a shit roster when the top guy isnt worried that someone could take his spot

I thought I'd heard he was still planned on being on MITB and SummerSlam, but he won't be on TV.

His near 2 full year title reign could very well end in a schmozz MITB cash in instead of anyone getting a proper rub from it.

They should let him keep the titles

I actually like this idea. Use this time to put the US and IC titles over on each brand. Maybe one of those guys could even set up a champion vs champion match when Roman returns.

"I was here at your table while you sat at home" or something, I don't know.

I really don’t think anybody is ready right now, except maybe Brock but please don’t revisit that so soon.

Top 3 candidates are probably McIntyre, Rhodes, or Orton but none of them feel there just yet.

As I said in the mega thread; I’d sooner they keep it on him even if he’s off TV, sort of like The Summer of Punk angle put done right. You have the rest of the roster fighting it out to prove themselves worthy of a shot. You can even tell a story with the MITB holder who can’t cash in because the champ isn’t around, or has limited opportunity to do so. Or the holder has to name his time and place (RVD style) in order to force Roman out.

In my head I had Cody as a heel MITB holder with a nefarious cash in, but the above could work quite well with him as a face.

Hitting the sweet spot timing wise is going to be difficult. They got it right with McIntyre, or would have if not for a pandemic that meant there were no fans in attendance. I’m not sure they can get it spot on for Cody.

Cody winning MITB and challenging Roman could actually be very good. "I came back to face the best, but he doesn't have the decency to even come to work anymore."

Orton, even though he's tag team champion right now, has the benefit of "tenure" for lack of a better term. I feel like he could be plugged into the main spot and there wouldn't be a real problem.

The reason I didn't jump to him right away is because he is doing such a great job with Riddle.

I’m all for trying to do something to repair the image of these belts. I’d be concerned with what happens when you do Champion vs. Champion. Is it titles on the line? The image of The Bloodline with another title is quite interesting but then you’ve got to get it back off Roman.

You could invert that line, and have Roman return and go after the IC champ for “taking food of his table” or set the Usos after the IC champ from afar. It’s all depend on who the champ was.

The Usos vs. Ricochet and a partner could be a nice little setup, but him vs Roman would take some building. Drew with the IC title could do directly against Roman. Or even do Drew and Ricochet vs The Usos with Drew/Ricochet winning the tag belts to set the Drew/Roman thing off.

+10 booking points if you rebrand Ricochet to Rick O’Shey and play up the Celtic link.

I wouldn’t do it with Orton (or anyone at this point) but if I absolutely needed to, he’s definitely over enough.

But then either Roman loses or you're down "another" champion. But if Roman's loss is dirty, that's reason enough for him to leave again and continue the feud.

Of course there is. Ricochet is a world class actor who could pull it off. Strange that he uses those acting chops to portray someone with so little charisma.

I said somewhere that I didn’t really believe it. When something comes from Meltzer these days re: WWE, you can basically write it off.

Unless it’s him talking about WWE turning Punk down. Then he’s an oracle.

Was it even him that broke that “story?” You can see Punk was trying to get back in WWE’s orbit with Backstage. And Dave gets fed some AEW stuff (usually skewered). He knows AEW went after him and couldn’t get him, and you can deduce the rest. That’s hardly having a source.

It’s like how he knew Edge was going to be back. AEW talked to him, Edge eventually had to cut talks short, AEW told Dave. He didn’t get it from the WWE side.

They do, but his doesnt bother me as much as most of them do because they made it go with his music, so it is not as random as some of the other ones.

I thought it was pretty cool.

I get past it pretty quick, but for a second it is like "yikes, what a soulless creation"

Feel like Aleister Black would have been a better fit for that stable/gimmick than Edge

I've heard rumblings that WWE reserved a hotel conference room for sometime in the very near future, where they'll just let Roman make completely unscripted remarks about his future and supposedly it would be a retirement speech. I don't have anything to back that up with, so until or rather, unless it happens, take that with a grain of salt.

It's honestly been in the back of my mind making me wonder if his health issue that had sidelined him for so long has come back. Sure hope that's not the case.

They use that all the time. It looks ridiculous.
