I always liked him as a kid. Had no idea he was Macho Man's brother until way later, and always got a kick out of rewatching stuff later knowing that at the time I didnt know, stuff like this:

He was SUCH nice guy. I'd shoot him questions on fb and he always responded.

Always loved watching Lanny. First guy on WWE that I saw do all these cool moves.

I'm pretty sure he was the first wrestler in North America to do a Moonsault, and brought a lot of high-flying and acrobatic techniques to wrestling that nobody else was really doing in the territories that he worked.

It's equally impressive that he could recognize when that wasn't necessarily working for him, and pivot so successfully to character work and gimmicks. The Genius was a fantastic heel character that could have run for so much longer as a manager well into the modern era.

You watch the Regis and Kathy Lee appearance that Lanny and Perfect did, and Lanny completely steals the show.

Remember that Macho Man bought the rights to the Gorgeous George gimmick with the intention of giving it to Lanny, and Lanny worked his ass off to get in shape for a return to TV. But they never called him, for years, and Mach eventually gave the name to his GF.

If Lanny had been working WCW B-shows with that gimmick in the late 90s, it would've made for more fun YouTube wormhole stuff as a lot of Saturday Night is.

Met him a few times. Sat and had drinks for awhile. Nice guy. RIP.

This is terrible news. I always loved him when he was with the Beverley Brothers…underrated heel tag team and manager.

I do hope he didn’t choke to death on his own massive hog, even though that would be pretty funny.
