Smackdown June 3, 2004 (something new to try)

First off i know we dont do this because its taped but during raw its fun to interact with each other while its going on. So I figured hell why not try it with Smackdown if its a dud well then this will be a one time thing if not then we will have something twice a week to interact in a wrestling event....so here we go

The first ever Smackdown while it happens thread

UNDERTAKER VS. BOOKER T
June 3, 2004
The Undertaker will be competing in a rare televised match this Thursday night on SmackDown!, as he goes one on one with Booker T in a Judgment Day rematch! Booker claims that he is not scared of Undertaker and will "shock the world" and defeat the Phenom. Will his boasts come true? Find out this Thursday night on UPN.

In addition, the lovely Divas on SmackDown! will be in action this week, as Torrie Wilson, Miss Jackie, Dawn Marie and Sable square off in a Summer Break Out Bikini Contest! Miss Jackie gave Rico and Charlie Haas a sneak preview last week, and "Charles" was very impressed, to say the least! (But Rico promised that Miss Jackie would look even better this Thursday night.) This huge competition also marks the return of Sable to SmackDown!

Last week, General Manager Kurt Angle named John Bradshaw Layfield the No. 1 contender to Eddie Guerrero and his WWE Championship. The two Superstars will battle for the title at The Great American Bash (Sunday, June 27 in Norfolk, Va.). Angle also made the unprecedented step of allowing JBL to select the stipulation for this match! JBL will reveal that stipulation this week on SmackDown!

And speaking of Angle, the Olympic gold medalist has forbidden Eddie Guerrero from wrestling until Latino Heat signs a release form clearing Angle of any liabilities if Guerrero is injured inside the squared circle. Will Latino Heat sign the form?

Actually, this isn't the first time this type of thing has been tried, Joey. It's been done a few times before, but never had any success. :p

They never Had the Rad man in charge :D

Actually I think Why they didnt have success is do to spoilers being posted a day or two in advance. Those that read the spoilers are most likely less likely to care about a thread on something that they know of whats going to happen.

Loose Cannon 06-03-2004 09:07 PM

Joe Kerr 06-03-2004 09:09 PM

damn....It doesnt start until 8 here...that may be a reason why this never works lol

The Naitch 06-03-2004 10:46 PM

It plays twice.

4pm on THE SCORE (Eastern Canada channel)

8pm on UPN and on THE SCORE again

Nothing too special about SD, except for a funny Chavo Classic segment. HEE-larious!

Mr. JL 06-03-2004 11:28 PM

They need to make Smack Down! live.

Batsu 06-04-2004 01:47 AM

LMFAO at John Cena on tonight's Smackdown, and props for him wearing a Blue Jays throwback. Of Cecil Fielder no less!

that was the funniest thing Cena had done in a long while....and perhaps the only Booker T mockery that actually drew laughs since he came to WWE.

and he wasn't even rapping.

Batsu 06-04-2004 02:11 AM

Also, on Mordecai:

Wow, he's something else.

I didn't think WWE would try a character like him especially now. He reminds me of the Good Ol' Days of the Undertaker's Ministry.

I totally agree. I was cracking up during that bit! It's a good thing he got out of talking in rhymes every moment he speaks.

The CyNick 06-04-2004 02:51 PM

I liked SD more than RAW this week, not sure if that shows that SD was really good or that RAW was horrible.

Anyway, I didn't find a lot of stuff to complain about.

Cena-BT was good stuff, I agree that Cena is too childish in his promos, but I think he's just following orders, and he's over, so what can you do? Nice build to the GAB match with 4 weeks to go.

Eddie-B Brian Basham was fun. I didn't mind Eddie cheating in the match, because well, thats his gimmick. Good showcase of Eddie.

The Chavos are awesome together, and Classic looked alright in the ring. Nice spot with paying off the "experienced" women.

Bikini deal was entertaining, Jamie Noble is funny, and who wouldn't enjoy Ms Jackie dripping wet?

Mordecai promo was just kinda there, I thought they would go further. I hear on house shows he's been talking about gay people, and how thats worng and what not. It'll be interesting to see if they go that route on TV.

Dupree-Rey was too short, I'd like to see them get more time, but what can you do. I'm also not sure about Dupree losing again, but it wasn't decisive, so maybe it'll be alright. But he could really use a big win sometime soon.

JBL cut another strong promo. I'm not a fan of the idea of a Bull Rope Match, but Bradshaw made it sound really brutal, they put over the NO DQ stip, so they got th epoint across that Eddie is a major underdog with the injuries. For all the negativity we hear about Bradshaw, he does cut an effective promo. Now, do people take him seriously as a main eventer? I dont think so, but he can cut a promo.

Main event was good as well. It wasn't HBK-Benoit or anything, but they did their thing, I liked Taker's bump off the top rope. And the cliffhanger was good enough to get people to come back next week.

So overall, the show gets a thumbs up from me. Maybe its because the show has been so bad, but I dont think thats it. Actually, I think now that the fans are getting used to some of the new talent in their new spots, the shows have been getting better and better. Hopefully that continues through the summer.

CyNick out.

Boondock Saint 06-04-2004 04:04 PM

Second SD I've really enjoyed in a row. I hope this is a sign of things to come. :y: :y:
