**Rate the Music: Week 3!**
 

Good morning. Time to wrap up the month of love. Or Black History. Are we still allowed to celebrate that in this day and age? Regardless, thanks again for all of the input and participation. It certainly helped in determining where Final Fantasy 7's One-Winged Angel stands when it comes to delightful and enjoyable music. It certainly fares better than Sonic the Hedgehog's Green Hill Zone. Here are the standings so far....

One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71
Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72


Can anything end up doing better than the RPG epic? Well, we have our next contender ready to be judged. Let's go into the fighting game genre for this recognizable ditty from one of the most iconic gaming franchises ever. We're listening to Guile's Stage Theme from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo! Talk about a Sonic Boom, huh? Well, let's hear what you have to say about it. Until next week!

Classic one for sure, but I don't even know if it is my favorite Street Fighter one. I give it a solid 7.

LOL, this is all over the place.

Guile's theme is an absolute bop. Its so recognizable and its the perfect tone for a fighting game. Its very much all rise all the time. It never relents. If they wanted to make this the national athem id be on board.

There's an interesting parallel forming that highlights how music is used effectively and very differently across gaming. Sephiroths theme is a narrative beat. It accents the story in a significant way. Greenhill and Guile's themes come from a pre narrative era of gaming where the musics function is to be the main character. While street fighter is very front facing with its true for all the great 8/16 bit era compositions. Smb 1-1's theme is narrative cue that informs the player what kind of world it is.

Different applications entirely.

There are other songs from that game I like more but Guile's classic theme is still among the best in the entire SF series.

Funny thing is Guile would be on the bottom end of my most played and favorite fighters from the SF II set of games.

He's incredibly top tier in virtually every outing, but I've always found him pretty bleh.

First theme I hear in my head when I think of Street Fighter is E. Honda

It really does go with everything, though....
