**Rate the Music: Week 9**
Hey, yo. We're late again, but at least we are back on the right day of the week. OK, so while there is still technically a day left for the last poll, I'm adding its current overall score to the list. If there are any last-minute votes I'll be sure to edit things properly. As it stands now, though, last week's adrenaline pumping Doom track earns enough love to let it land at our number 3 position. Observe....
█ One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71 Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) - 8.66 At Doom's Gate (Doom) - 8.375 Guile Stage Theme (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo) - 8.25 Bloody Tears (Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest) - 7.85 Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72 Halo (Halo: Combat Evolved) - 7.125 Spark Mandrill Stage (Mega Man X) - 7 Alright, so what can we do to top that performance, if at all? I think we can find the answer in another fighting game franchise. Let's turn the clock back once again to the mid-nineties with another Rare title. Let's listen to our inner instinct. Let's listen to The Instinct! Yes, it's the main theme of the combo-heavy fight fest Killer Instinct! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/80sEbTBKTs4?si=cdoMSKBpCibXXRQA" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> Alright, the rest is up to you. Does this song hit as heavy as an Ultra Combo? Let's discuss and we'll see you next week! |
I know I played a lot of Killer Instinct on SNES, but I can't remember a single piece of music from it....
Just listened to that tune.... generic as all hayell, nothing about it stands out.... giving it the lowest possible score |
I love KI but the track has no juice. No identity. It could be from any game.
|
But its not ear splitting or anything so 3
|
eh.. dont remember it.. its w/e ever
|
Never plated KI in the arcades and only experience would be from the SNES.
Toss up between a 7 and a 8 for the arcade version of the song but went with a 7. The remake version of this song from the Xbox One remake is a lot better and hits way harder as an intro theme for the series. |
LOL, we're all over the place on this one.
|
Nothing really special

Oh, please be up and running tomorrow.

I just remember being really stoked about the Killer Cuts CD that was packaged with the SNES version of the game. Video game soundtracks weren't really a common thing back then, and I always thought this game had some good tracks. I can't put my finger on one simple thing about this theme that I love. Maybe the nostalgia is working overtime.
