Saved!
Saw it today. It was actually pretty good. I QUITE ENJOYED IT.
It's only playing in NYC and LA for now as far as I know, but should hopefully be spreading to more theaters soon. For those who haven't heard about it, it's about a girl in a christian high school who gets pregnant after trying to help her gay boyfriend turn straight by having sex with him because "Jesus told her to." Her friends notice her acting weird and try to help her out with the love of Jesus. It's a dark comedy. Stars Jena Malone, Mandy Moore (both  ), and Macaulay Culkin. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332375/ |
WTF @ Mandy Moore doing this kind of film.
Sounds hott though. This shit better come out here. |
Wait, I thought that this was a serious thing promoting Christianity... It isnt?

The best character is the lead pastor guy in charge of the school. He talks to the students in this "hip" slang. It's ROFL. He was like "that painting is looking really phat."
|
I'm a Christian myself, and I haven't seen the movie, but, from the promos, I have to say that every stereotype they've shown, I've witnessed in person. So... yeah, it's sorta like making fun of things that we know happens in real life. :) (Which sorta sets it apart from Dogma, which was more or less a Christian fantasy story.)
|
I just want to say that this movie sucks. And is full of lies, it's worse than that Micheal Moore crap.
Christians do not bomb planned parenting centers. They're pro-life. D'uh. It's those hippies acting under the guidance of Satan who bomb those clinics to make Christians look bad. Real Christians wouldn't even look at such places, let alone go to them. |
If you are serious, shut the fuck up.
That has nothing to do with the movie, retard. |
It opens everywhere this coming Friday, btw.

If they get it in my theater, I'm on it. |
Prolly gonna go see this friday. I hate Mandy Moore, but I'll risk it. From what I've seen (little bits of A Walk To Remember) she is a horrible actress.
|
She is great in it.

It is deplorable how this film spreads bigotry and hatred towards people of faith. The world is living in an unusual time, and one of the last things that it needs is movies written by anti-Semites and other people whom are against religion. Christianity is a religion of love and unity, and anybody truly following it would not act like the unmerited stereotypes in this film. I almost cannot believe that such a film would get any acclaim when it spreads bigotry, much like this does. Personally, I believe in the principles of unity: where Christians, Jews, Muslims, ect. can all live in peace under the one true God, and although I disagree with them, non-believers should be able to live in such peace, as well. However, films like this do nothing but cause resentment and evil, and thus I do not recommend it.

I saw it tonight. It was good times.

So is it out right now?

Just saw this last night after doing a blind buy. It's so fucking cool, because I go to church and I related to a lot of that. Perhaps too much. Culkin and Moore were so kick ass.
|
Yeah, this is one of the better movies in recent years. Really over-shadowed movie too. I actually enjoyed all the actors/actresses in the movie, which doesn't happen to often. And Jena Malone is a great actress.

"Hey, is that Mary coming out of Planned Parenthood? There is only one reason Christian girls go to Planned Parenthood."
"To plant a pipe bomb?" "OK, two reasons." |

I thought it was shit. Didn;t think anything was funny (except the pastor guy) and there wasn't really much to it at all.
