What event was that first chanted at??

I know it's a song, was just wondering when it was first chanted at a wrestling event..

Disturbed316 06-11-2004 09:10 PM

Probably around the time the song came out :-\

Dunno though

Cactus Sid 06-12-2004 10:40 AM

I remember it happening just after Fully Loaded 99, when Austin beat Taker, and Vince wasn't allowed to appear on TV after that, and Austin and JR sang it on Raw.

I could be wrong of course.

Savio Vega vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin...

WWF In Your House in May of '96...though it could've been June. It was originally supposed to be May 26, 1996, but a transformer blew up, and the transmission didn't feed to the homes of those that ordered on Pay-Per-View, plus there were no lights in the arena.

Initially, Savio Vega had accepted a challenge from Austin's manager Ted DiBiase that if Savio lost, he would become Ted's chauffer. Well, at the initial event, Savio came out on top, and thus, didn't have to drive Mr. DiBiase around. However, on Monday Night Raw, after they announced that the entire show would be done again that Tuesday, or at least I think Tuesday, The Million Dollar Man told Savio to keep the stipulation on, and said that if he did, he had one of his own. He told Vince McMahon that if Savio Vega defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin that he'd leave the WWF forever.

It turned out Savio won, and Ted DiBiase did in fact leave the WWF, and hasn't returned since. Savio and the crowd sang to him, and Savio actually used it as an exit theme for a while.

Austin, even in character, seemed almost happy that Ted was gone, meanwhile, Savio went nowhere fast, and Ted went to WCW and joined the nWo.

On an interesting note, back then, I had a dream that Savio lost the match and then took Ted for a ride and drove the limo right into a building.

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing it too. I mean the fans aren't really that into any more.

Stickman 06-13-2004 02:36 PM

Yeah it's tired because it's been over done.

Innovator 06-13-2004 04:01 PM

I would have to assume a long time ago, isn't the song relatively old? Its not like singing that song originated in 1999.

First person to ever sing that song was Chris Rock in 1997.

Can't be, if Savio Vega was singing it in 1996.

Savio 06-20-2004 06:13 PM

Banarama - Late 80's, UK band of 3 women that were crap.

HankScorpio 06-21-2004 10:56 AM

I'm pretty sure its been sung at UK soccer matches for decades

The Mackem 06-21-2004 11:12 AM

If I found myself singing that at a football match, I'd have to kick my own ass.
