How do you connect two "CD DRIVES" or am I missing something? edit

I connected them both with all the connections they need inside.

I assigned one master and one slave etc etc

However, it only ever reads one hard drive.

The other one wont even be listed when they are both connected.

Am I missing something?

Just check the wires, like power and stuff, if it still doesn't work, swap round the wire you use to connect it to the motherboard (ie, put the middle one on the slave, and the one at the end on the master).
Other than that, I dunno.

I tried all that.

It didnt work. :\

I even tried replacement wires.

You have to format the drive so it's able to put stuff on there. If the drive didn't come with any programs to do it, go into your BIOs and load from that drive. You can format it there.

Ok Ninta, let's start from the cabling. You have a flat cable with two conections on one end and a single on the other. Hook the single end to your secondary IDE port on the motherboard making sure the red strip on the cable is on the #1 side of the port.

On the double sided the slave CD drive goes on the lower connector and the Master goes on the end connector.

When you power up press Delete to go into your CMOS. Generally in the first section of the CMOS there are settings for date, time etc. and your drives.
On the secondary part set it to auto detect your secondary drives.(the CD drives)

his esc, save changes and see if your OS detects them.

Depending on your OS (if it's 98 or ME) you may have to use the install disc that came with the Drives to create settings in your config.sys and the autoexec.bat files.

hope this helps.

Probably just your connection then.

Turn off your computer. Set one as master and one as slave.
Flat, grey, huge cable is the IDE cable. It will have two plugs on it. Put the one at the end in the Master drive, the middle one in the slave. Plug two connecters from your power supply to them both.

Start up and let Windows and it should be fine. Other then that I don't know.
