Official NBA Draft thread
Discuss the draft here.
|
I'd pick Emeka Okafor. Him and Howard will both be great players, but Emeka will be able to contribute sooner and he is more of a need for the Magic.
I think Howard will be the better player in 4 or 5 years but I think the trend right now in the NBA is to win now instead of waiting on projects. Just in a general draft discussion, if the Raptors get Devin Harris I will be sooo happy. I don't want to sit through another year of Alvin Williams at the 1. |
I have a gut feeling that Dwight Howard will be a huge failure. I hope so anyway.
|
I have the same gut feeling about Howard, but I don't really know why.
Either way, I would still take Okafor I think. If the Magic are going to get Francis and Mobley, two established, quality guards, then they will need big men to go with them, and Okafor will do more this season. Orlando should be better than last year with the three, but not too much better, also it will help Okafor a lot to play this much with a few good players on his team, whereas Howard still probably wouldn't play much this year anyway, so it wouldn't help him as much. Either way, both should be good players, but I would take Okafor. |
I doubt Francis will play for Orlando next year, they'll probably trade him
|
The Francis and Mobley thing isn't 100% either. Now that all the other teams know it is in the air, more offers are going to be coming. If it does happen, does anyone have any idea where Francis would go and for who?
|
I've heard
TMac to Houston Francis to Seattle Ray Allen to Orlando |
Cool, the Sonics didn't actually draft another euro player. They said good things about Swift so hopefully they finally have their center.
Araujo at no.8 are u kidding me, nobody will remember him in 3 years, and Portland getting Telfair instead of Nelson :wtf:. |
I think that Araujo will be a good pick. A big strong guy for a team like Toronto should be good in my opinion, I just think its better to take the big guy in that situation.
Does anybody know why Sebastian Telfair wasn't invited into the draft? WTF at Jameer still not picked?? |
Also, can the audience hear the analyists? Thats super weird if they can.
|
Nelson to the Nuggs, watch out. If im a Denver fan Im happy as hell, I dont know why he dropped so low. Utah drafting Pavel is smart, they can afford him being a bust.
|
Jameer to the Magic, smart move
|
Beltran to the astros in a three way deal :shifty:
|
DAMN Dallas managed to get Harris and Podkolzine. I guess that means Nash is gone?
|
Yea they were saying he could sign to the Suns or they would do a sign and trade to the Lakers. Dallas is STACKED though.
The Bulls probably hAd the best draft, not a bad lineup with Hinrich,Gordon,Deng,Chandler and Curry. |
Nice job Celtics........say you are drafting Best Player Avaliable but you pass up on Nelson and draft 2 more shooting guards when the best player on the team is a shooting guard
Danny Ainge is fucking horrible...Nelson is gonna come back and SHIT ON the 21 teams that pased him up..I know he is...He even said it himself, that he has a chip on his shoulder now Pierce did the same shit when he just entred the NBA...he dropped to #10 and he even said himself he was out to get the other 9 times that passed up on him and he did. I know Nelson will too |
Yeah what's with people passing on him?
And WTF were Portland thinking? |
Some guy from Russia got drafted that averaged 4.9 PPG in the EuroLeague :|
|
LOL
I'm still trying to figure out Portland taking Telfair so high. |
Quote:
Of course, Dallas getting him makes me want to vomit. They better not get Shaq. |
Does anybody know why "Telfair was not invited to be here by the NBA?"
|
I love Jameer, but I don't really like the Magic, which got me thinking, how amazing would it have been if he was traded to the Bobcats...Jameer and Okafor
|
I think i'm going against the grain when I say that Emeka Okafor might be the next Michael Olowakandi. He's already got a history of back problems and that could be an issue in the next couple years. I say Olowakandi simply because he had all these expectations when he got to the NBA as a top pick, and proved to be one of the worst top picks in recent memory. I can see some serious similarities between the two.
Probably why he wasn't the first pick. BTW, to say i'm disappointed that the Warriors went AGAIN with some shitty foreigner (and yes i do mean shitty - two years ago, he averaged 2 points a game) instead of somebody with real potential, would be a supreme understatement. And I thought Chris Mullin signed on to help them :( |
