This Whole Thing Could Be Good In The End...

I was only just thinkin that that this whole WWE slump is pissing EVERYONE off right now. But this could be a good thing...
with NWA-TNA looking to be coming up as a recognisable second best, and the WWE falling below all expectations this may very well be the shake up WWE needs. within a year or so, no doubt TNA wil start acquiring WWE talent. This will start to shake the WWE like it was in the attitude era - thanks to WCW- because as we all know its since 2001ish that the company has gone downhill. We may have to put up with it for now, but the result looks promising.

Monday night war style material may be headed our way again! :y: :y:

Kane Knight 06-30-2004 12:44 PM

It's a long shot.

However, it's a perfect timing for TNA.

James Steele 06-30-2004 01:05 PM

There is only one thing holding TNA back....

and i'll give you a clue slapnuts :shifty:

Kane Knight 06-30-2004 01:09 PM

I',m sorry. I'll try not to hold them back anymore. :shifty:

Anyways, Russo doesn't help either.

Kane Knight 06-30-2004 01:09 PM

Seriously, we all know who's holding them back. Edge and Christian.

91 06-30-2004 01:14 PM

:D Maybe Rick Steiner is exactly what TNA needs.

Ferocious 06-30-2004 01:17 PM

WWE should sign Shamrock again and put him on Smackdown.

LMAO remember when Rick Steiner used to wear those earmuffs PMFSL.

I've never seen an episode of TNA in my life, and the only way I know about it is from these forums. From what I hear, they put a lot of money on the line to bring in big names, and they are pretty strapped for cash at the moment. I don't think that they would be able to bring in anymore big guys, so they will need their talent to step up, and their writers to come up with good storylines. If this happens, then there will be some good competition between TNA and WWE, which would cause both of them to put on quality wrestling :y:

Corkscrewed 06-30-2004 03:36 PM

TNA is still a huge longshot. WWE is just crappy cuz Vince knows he can. I doubt TNA would really benefit from this, as the WWE would still keep their biggest stars.

Sensei Of Mattitude 06-30-2004 04:36 PM

I like watching TNA much more than the WWE right now. Its fresh and also old. There's the new kids in AJ, Kash, Abyss and the old vets like Raven, Jarrett, K-Kwik. Plus all of the X-Divison. OMG the X-Division is what the Cruiserweight Division should be.

Plus Smackdown should showcase the cruiserweight division each week. Fuck title matches. Just have random matches between Kidman/Noble, Kidman/Mysterio, Hurricane/Noble etc. Just like WCW. WWE sucks

KingofOldSchool 06-30-2004 04:38 PM

TNA won't make it.

Favre4Ever 06-30-2004 05:15 PM

The only problem I can see is that it could take ages for TNA to get a good tv deal on a network or cable station everyone pretty much gets. Its a longshot, but WWE might even have time to turn themselves around by then.

Wildcat789 06-30-2004 08:39 PM

TNA won't be even CLOSE to competing with the WWE for another 3-4 years. ESPECIALLY with Jarret holding down the talent. He is seriously the worst thing for that company. Well...that or Russo :shifty:.

Batsu 06-30-2004 09:33 PM

TNA's "safe, yet not safe" action, properly cultivated, may motivate Vince to get off his ass, but it'll take a couple of years before any of that happens.

but yeah, Vince Russo needs to STAY AWAY FROM THE CAMERAS and Jeff Jarrett needs to STAY AWAY FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP BELT AND THE HHH JUICE!

James Steele 06-30-2004 09:45 PM

lmao, HHH Juice :shifty:

Anyway, Russo and Jarrett were the final nails in WCW's coffin and they might do the same in NWA.

The CyNick 06-30-2004 10:06 PM

TNA will be out of business soon enough.

If only people relaized how low their ratings were, you'd understand why they will never provide competition for the WWE.

Safe yet not safe.

Sounds like music on MTRV.

But well put.

c4g2 07-01-2004 04:39 AM

This would involve Vinnie Mac taking WWE so low that it is on par with TNA.

That is impossible.

Kane Knight 07-01-2004 01:50 PM

Spoken by someone who's not watched either in a while, I reckon.

With what has occured lately, "impossible" would be easy to attain. :shifty:

The CyNick 07-01-2004 05:28 PM

Here's the thing though, no matter how bad the WWE gets, TNA wont benefit because they aren't on the map. I have plenty of friends who I would consider casual wrestling fans (ie they were watching when Austin and Rock were hot but have since left) and they've never heard of TNA.

WCW when they were trying to compete with WWE had years and years on a major cable network, and ran PPVs and house shows just like the WWE. TNA is on a lousy station in a horrible time slot, so nobody knows they exist (outside their loyal following that order their weekly PPVs).

So even if the WWE starts putting out an even worse product, its not like the fans are waiting to switch to TNA, they have no idea it exists. Unless they were to get a prime time TV slot, this will never change.

Well, Vinnie Mac is indeed the man who brought pro wrestling to the world... They have not been exactly churning out great stuff, but there are some things they are doing right (Eugene :D, Benoit not being buried completely)

Kane Knight 07-02-2004 03:55 AM

And a lot they are doing wrong.

I'm not saying TNA is the best or anything, but the WWE's quality has slid pretty far down.

c4g2 07-02-2004 04:02 AM

Sure they have, but TNA is at best a small promotion compared to WWE lucky enough to get a TV deal.

tucsonspeed6 07-02-2004 10:32 AM

Actually, it just boggles my mind as to why Smackdown has gone where it has... Taker is still shooting lightning bolts (despite Tazz telling us that it's all a mindset), JBL DIDN'T get fired after GAB (a rumor that I prayed would be true), Cena's losing heat quick but they still won't stop pushing him, and Kurt Angle is shocking the world with his daringly original GM gimmick [/sarcasm]. Normally I'd say that all this talk about the WWE turning to garbage is ignorant, but even Raw is beginning to feel the effects of Smackdown. (Bizzaro-world Raw from Quebec was the worst Raw I've seen since the HHH/Steiner muscle making contest) I think rather than a Monday night War, there should be a Thursday night war. Smackdown would go to the shitter, nobody would watch, and finally things would get turned around.

Speaking of timeslots, does anyone know the ratings for Impact for the last few weeks? Maybe if we sent around a petition to get Fox Sports Net to change the timeslot they'll put it on in the evening rather than the afternoon.

Dirtyunderweartaker 07-02-2004 08:50 PM

IMPACT HAS A 3.6 ON AVERAGE FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS.

TNA FOR THE MOST PART IS PRETTY BAD. DURING SOME OF THE MATCHES I HAVE SEEN, THE MOVES WERE SLOPPY WITH BAD TIMING, THESE GUYS COULD HURT EACH OTHER. HOWEVER, SOME OF THEIR STARS ARE VERY TALENTED, BUT VERY FEW.

THE PEOPLE OF TNA MAY BE PUSHING A SHOPPING CART IN A FEW YEARS

Ferocious 07-02-2004 08:53 PM

LMAO at you thinking Impact hit a 3.6
