The World/WWF NY

What happened to WWF NY/The World? What's there now?

Marc the Smark 07-13-2004 12:17 AM

I was in NY for Mania, and happened to walk by the building that was WWF New York. The building is empty, with all the windows boarded up, like the place has been abandoned (which I find very surprising). I thought it was a great concept, but I was obviously wrong.

I remember it going out of business a while ago

Iceman90 07-13-2004 01:22 AM

I think it was also a great idea, but it could have been executed better.

They overused it on TV, and didn't have enough 'wresting' (hence the second word in WWF) there. They should have done live shows, or at least have like a match once a week with guys training to come back, etc.

I remeber reading when they went out, they were going to have one last show cause they had their contract until Augest of that year... I beleive it was TE3 or 2, not sure...

I went there once... Food was very expensive, but it was fun...

Horrible idea. Got what it had coming.

The Mackem 07-13-2004 02:54 PM

Didn't even know it went out of business.

Their coffee sucked

Well they got what they deserved then. Bad coffee is a recipe for disaster.

No wonder it went out of business

Iceman90 07-14-2004 12:30 AM

Now, if a WWE restraunt was bad, think if Vince decided to open XFL restraunt!

Bad Company 07-14-2004 01:15 AM

It also got really badly damaged on Sept 11 didnt it?

The Forgotten One 07-14-2004 01:16 AM

I imagine the Nitro Grill was even worse.

Nope.

WWF NY wasn't anywhere near the WTC.

The One 07-14-2004 04:06 AM

The reason it went under was mainly because the manager of it (shits if I can remember his name) was a dick and fu</>cked with the accounts, etc. It was a good idea, I like going there (only made it twice)...was there for a RAW once and I got Mick Foley's autograph along with a chance to talk to him which was nice. Anyway...enough reflecting. I thought it was a good idea, expensive as all hell, but a fun place overall.

If after reading that, anyone wants to read about WWF New York's little brother, WWE Niagra Falls, RD Reynolds is doing a 2 part "Someone Bought This" on it at www.wrestlecrap.com

Don't tell Vince that. It can be another excuse for him.

TE was also on MTV... I guess the only reason they had it on MTV is so they could get to more "hip" people and make it more "hip"... Plus the fact that MTV is owned by Viacom, which owns Spike TV...

Triple A 07-21-2004 04:49 PM

i went their on my trip to ny..the fries were good..and that katchup was to

RGWhat316 07-23-2004 06:44 PM

I never actually got a chance to go. I walked by it once since I was with a group and wasn't able to go in on my only trip to NYC in early '01. But by thr time we were able to wander around for a while, we were nowhere near Times Square.
