Tyson vs Williams

Who do you think is going to win?
I say Tyson, but only because I'm a Tyson mark.

Oxstar 07-25-2004 10:22 PM

I think Tyson will win, but there's no way I'm paying £15 to watch him on ppv

YOUR Hero 07-25-2004 10:39 PM

Serena Williams?

Y2Ant 07-26-2004 12:21 AM

Gareth Williams :shifty:

Gonzo 07-26-2004 12:30 AM

I don't know who this Williams guy is but I say if he has good enough reach on Tyson he lays the whuppin to him.

YOUR Hero 07-26-2004 01:07 AM

20 bucks says tyson shows up drunk..make him look even more pitful than he already is.

LK 07-26-2004 02:41 PM

Tyson

Tony Montana 07-26-2004 03:05 PM

It is a mis-match. Tyson will knock him out inside 2 rounds.

Gertner 07-26-2004 03:25 PM

Hank Williams?
Ted Williams?

Tony Montana 07-26-2004 03:28 PM

Danny Williams.

No it's not. Tyson hasn't fought in 2 years since having Lennox Lewis hand his arse to him. Danny Williams probably has more potential than anyone I have ever seen in this sport but he doesn't have the motivation to live up to it. Ever since I saw Danny Williams separated his right shoulder and not only fought on but knocked his opponent out fighting left handed all night, I had so much respect for him. The man definately has heart. Tyson is definately still the superior fighter and the favourite. I think he'll win but I think Williams will at least take it to him unlike all these other jabroni's who fall at the first sight of a punch.

Funky Fly 07-26-2004 04:58 PM

Prince Williams? :?:

Seriously, Tyson will win, but Rob put it best. Will be a good fight.

Sensei Of Mattitude 07-26-2004 07:34 PM

Steve Williams?

That would be awesome.... Stone Cold vs Mike Tyson.

BUT!

Tyson is a freak show, who I will root for so I can see more of his fights. Its not like Im paying to see him.

Heyman 07-27-2004 01:41 AM

Tyson.

p.s. I don't care what anyone else says, but the mid-late 80's version of Tyson would have KILLED Lennox Lewis.

With the exception of Ali and Fraizer, 80's Tyson was the greatest boxer of all-time. Hands down.

Good job nobody cares what you think and Lennox smashed that joke into the floor.

Tyson was WAY past his prime when he fought Lewis. He was fat, out of shape, and had been drugged a few days earlier (if I recall correctly, he was taking some very heavy anti-depressant pills).

I'll admit - even the 1996 version of Mike Tyson (Tyson/Holyfield part I) would still have lost to Lennonx Lewis.

The Mike Tyson that I'm talking about, is the pre 1991 Mike Tyson. The Mike Tyson that was SENSATIONAL during the mid/late 80's. The Mike Tyson that completely dessminated Mike Spinks.

THAT Mike Tyson was the greatest of all-time.....with the exception of Ali and maybe Frazier.

Not to take anything away from Lennox Lewis, but Lennox Lewis (in his prime) would not be able to even lace the boots of Mike Tyson (in his prime).

A combo-oriented, not-one-punch-obsessed, super fit (mentally and physically) Tyson would've beaten Lewis even worse than when your father beats you. I'd say 3 rounds tops.

jindrak 07-28-2004 08:09 PM

The heavyweight division in boxing is VERY weak, so it is definately possible for Tyson to once again become champ.

I agree with Heyman about all his points on Tyson. Even a Tyson (way passed his prime) could beat any top contender in the heavyweight division. In addition, there is still interest in the guy. He adds the element of intrigue, and that means more buys. :y:

No. I am NOT saying that. Tyson is no longer anywhere near the best in the world. I'm not sure who the 'top guys' are right now, but Tyson ain't one them......anymore. Tyson can still beat the 'average' guys of today, but he'll get smoked by the top ones.

I do however - believe that the pre-1991 Tyson would have DESTROYED everyone.....including Lennox Lewis.

I alluded to the fact that the heavyweight division is WEAK. Heck, Riddick Bowe was even contemplating a comeback!!!

There is no 'house-hold' name in the heavy-weight division, except for maybe the Klitcszo(sp?) brothers (Roy Jones and Tarver I think are remaining in the lower-weight divisions). Tyson can still draw, albeit not as much as he previously has. Nonetheless, Tyson still has power and strength, although his quickness/speed has deteriorated. It is not a far-fetched notion to suggest that Tyson can regain the heavyweight throne.

Like you say Heyman...Think about it.

DegenerationY 07-29-2004 10:31 AM

Who cares about this fight really?

Tyson will never be the boxer he once was. methinks he's just fighting to get some money to pay off some debts.

It's not even worth watching, free or not.

Rob 07-29-2004 03:12 PM

Heyman - get a fu</>cking life you sad pathetic little bastard. And you know why before anyone asks.

You're right about the fact that Tyson will never be the boxer that he once was, but Tyson will always be a draw IMO. It's impossible to ignore 'car wrecks', and Tyson is no different.

My bet is that YOU will end up watching it if you get a good chance to. :)

YOUR Hero 07-30-2004 11:48 AM

The fight is when?

I haven't follwed boxing for quite awhile.

Rob 07-30-2004 05:00 PM

Friday night. Tyson should win. I'd say middle of the fight if Williams doesn't freeze. Williams isn't a huge underdog though (well from those who have seen him fight and know his history).

Doink 07-30-2004 05:25 PM

i want williams to win as ive not been a tyson fan since he beat bruno.

his wont happen and tyson will win by K.O within 4 rounds if that.

Rob 07-30-2004 09:44 PM

Tyson is a shadow of his former self and looks like he has lost his killer instinct. However, they say the last thing a boxer loses is his punching power. If Williams avoids being tagged with those huge hooks, he has a chance. However, U.S judges blatantly don't like "boxers" since they always seem to lose fights on points when they fight behind jabs.

Gotta agree with that, his outside ring behavior alone just causes a draw in any arena no matter who he's gonna fight. And he is gonna win right now.

RemyRed 07-31-2004 01:07 AM

It would be funny thought if boxing is just as fake as wrestling. And Tyson was just brought back to put over Williams.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-31-2004 04:55 AM

Heard Tyson got knocked out

Tyson has really fallen off these last few years :-\

Its too bad, he was ridiculous back in his prime.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-31-2004 04:56 AM

Heard a "theory"

Somebody said Tyson was killing the guy in the 1st 2 rounds, then it looked like he slowed up and let the other guy win? I dunno, the details seem pretty cloudy so who knows. Tyson was like 9-1 wasn't he? Or maybe 7-1...he probably bet againest himself hahahah

MoRcHeEbA 07-31-2004 05:48 AM

I heard some bookie offered 2000-1 odds for tyson to get knocked out by the fifth round :| that guy alone could have paid off tyson debt on that.

Hired Hitman 07-31-2004 05:50 AM

I think Williams will win... What? it's over? huh, in that case.

HAVE IT TYSON.

Couldn't have been more right! After Williams got tagged with huge blows in the 1st, he survived and took it right to Tyson landing his own huge shots. The referee was absolutely pathetic. Just as bad as the ref for the Sven Ottke vs. Robin Reid fight. 2pts taken from Williams in the 2nd because he refused to be bullied by Tyson.

I said it when Lewis smashed him and again last night, there ain't no way some pussy from New York can beat up a man from London! :D

What is it with people making excuses for Tyson. The guy was in great shape, you could see his power and sharpness was there. His problem is what I have consistantly said about him for years - He can't box. He has only one game plan and when those huge blows fail, he has nothing. After Williams got rocked in the 1st, he took every single shot Tyson had to offer and stood there. Tyson even looked at him when he had Williams in the corner and Williams refused to take the abuse as to say "What the fu</>ck? You shouldn't be doing this to me!".

Tyson isn't the fighter from yesteryear but he should still be in the best out there in a poor heavyweight division. The way the referee and the media acted, it looked like they blatantly wanted to work this fight. Unfortunately, to work a fight, the person who is doing the job is meant to know and I guess Danny Williams wasn't told.

Loose Cannon 07-31-2004 03:08 PM

Tyson got Knocked the FK out. Good, I can't stand him.

Y2Ant 07-31-2004 03:23 PM

JOBBED

MoRcHeEbA 07-31-2004 03:35 PM

heard he ended up tearing his knee up in the first round, gotta give the guy props for fighting with that, when I tore my knee I could hardly move.

The Outlaw 07-31-2004 04:05 PM
