Do you think it's worth me buying a PS2
 
I'm considering it mainly because the next Smackdown is coming out soon and so is the next GTA. I almost bought one before but at the time I didn't think I could justify it but now I can.

The main problem is, I don't want to buy it and then it goes obsolete with a few weeks. The last console I bought was a Dreamcast and well...you all know how that turned out.

So basically :y: or :n:

I'd get it since they still have lots of other good games. The PS2 controller is also the best one in my opinion.

They do have a lot of games, but I'd have to disagree with the controller comment. X-box Type-S controller is much more comfortable in my opinion, though I like PS2 better overall.

As far as I know, PS3 wont be coming out until ATLEAST late 2006, maybe later, so you'd have it a year at least... I say get it, if only for those two games... Plus the other great games on the system... Buy a used one, they're cheaper and should work just fine...

If you're getting it make sure you get Pro Evo 4 due out the same day as GTA I think. Those 3 games will make the system worth it on its own.

Hmm, winning eleven 8 is realesed on PS2, while PES4 is realeased on PC, if i didnt remember wrongly :p

Yea, it's worth it. There are so many other games that you will always be able to find something good to play.

I bought my ps2 just for gtaII and smackdown JBI back in the day, I've been getting each of the series as they come out, I'm happy with them :y:

Yeah buy it. I'm sure they're pretty cheap now. Plus, even if it will go "obsolete", you still get a DVD player out of it.

Yes, go for it. It will not go the same way as Dreamcast. If you do end up buying it used from somewhere like Gamestop or EB, get the extended warranty. I would say you are better off buying a new system. They put better disc drives in them and improved the noises from the fans.

Get one, but don't get it 2nd hand. There's a chance it could have a disc read error problem.

Pro Evo is Europe PAL

I can assure you the PS2 is not the dreamcast. I might wait to see if there are more games that you want besides just the 2 that you mentioned, cause I bought an xbox for shenmue 2 (no comments needed) and it turned out like crap. but now halo 2 is out and street fighter is coming out soon too, so basically i wouldn't really buy a system for just 1 or 2 games.

It's not fully licensed, but all the international teams are, and I think a lot of the European leagues are.
