Official Metal Thread

Hello posters of TPWW. I'm commonly known as "Bandit" over at ye ole rajah.com, but don't think for a second that I only registered here to pester the lot of you. Scrolling down the first page of this music forum, I notice some of you listen to quite decent music, therefore, I decided we compile all of our thoughts and words regarding the genre of metal (and any sub-genres of metal) in this here thread.

This thread is for any of the following:
  • Listing recently-purchased metal CDs
  • Reviewing songs/albums/bands correlated to the metal scene
  • Debating anything regarding metal itself

I'll start.

I just picked up "Voimasta Kunniasta" from Moonsorrow, completing my album collection from them. I've also picked up Shining - Within Deep Dark Chambers.

Please, for the good of metal, discuss.

I just downloaded the best of Thin Lizzy - Phil Lynott is God.

That is all

OssMan 08-14-2004 02:58 PM

recently purchased Metallica - S&M

their last good album :(

they ruined "Bleeding Me" and "Of Wolf and Man" though

Mike the Metal Ed 08-14-2004 03:09 PM

I will look into increasing my Iron Maiden catalog when I have some money, and might look into Motorhead's Inferno and The Eyes of Alice Cooper.

Bandit 08-14-2004 03:15 PM

Mr. Monday Morning, how's the new Zyklon? Any good? All I've heard from them is "World ov Worms"

Arashi Kage 08-14-2004 04:29 PM

I'm gonna see Slayer and Judas Priest live in Toronto on Wednesday, perhaps I can post a review of the show.

Last album purchased - the infamous Priest album Turbo. :y:

I haven't actually heard World... :$ but everything I've read suggests Aeon kicks its' ass. And it is indeed a fine album.

Nu metal counts as metal right?

Lets talk about the new Papa Roach CD.

*runs like buggery*

Sepholio 08-14-2004 05:42 PM

I just downloaded some tracks from a band called Sub Dub Microwave, they rock pretty hard.

Awesome, I'm looking forward to it.

Whoever asked about the nu-metal, you can talk about it, but just don't expect too many people to respond...

Joeleosis 08-15-2004 05:57 PM

I'm listening to Cradle Of Filth's latest song "Gilded Cunt"..... it rules. Also, I just discovered Dragonforce after asphyxy dropped their guitarist's name in another thread. Even though its power metal cheese, they rule. :'(

The Destroyer 08-15-2004 06:11 PM

Dragonforce's lyrics are cheesy as hell. But they're still one of the few power metal bands I actually like...

Silent 08-15-2004 07:11 PM

I bought Killswitch Engage's latest yesterday, and I have been listening to it almost non stop..it sounds a lot like a gothenburg record.

asphyXy 08-15-2004 10:58 PM

Last purchase = Heathen - Recovered

Bandit 08-16-2004 05:48 AM

Good ole DragonForce...

Duh dun duh dun duh *random crazy fast solo* (repeat twenty times)

I read a review claiming that as any given DragonForce song...made me chuckle.

thecc 08-16-2004 02:01 PM

the best metal cd to come out recently was the oncoming storm by unearth

Bandit 08-17-2004 12:55 AM

I just saw the video for "Every Time I Die" from Children of Bodom for the first time (I've heard the song many times though)

It's a cool video, and one of their better songs.

+1

asphyXy 08-17-2004 01:15 AM

Unearth isn't metal.

Bandit 08-17-2004 01:18 AM

I've never heard Unearth. Is that a good or a bad thing?

asphyXy 08-17-2004 01:50 AM

:y:

Bandit 08-17-2004 03:01 AM

Okay, we need some sort of discussion in here...

What's everyone's favorite Bathory CD?

asphyXy 08-17-2004 03:05 AM

Octagon is off da hook.

Seriously, Blood Fire Death cannot be beaten.

Bandit 08-17-2004 03:06 AM

Blood Fire Death is my favorite as well.

I also listen to Self-Titled a lot. But in my opinion, I think all Bathory is good. So I'm biased.

asphyXy 08-17-2004 03:07 AM

Even Octagon?

Bandit 08-17-2004 03:16 AM

It's not one of my favorites, but I'll be completely honest and say I don't dislike it. :$

The Wizz 08-17-2004 01:27 PM

I'm waiting for the new Danzig.

Period, end of.

Bandit 08-17-2004 06:34 PM

I'm downloading the new Danzig as we speak.

I'm cheap.

By the way,

Did you just sign up recently, or do you justn ever post here?

The Destroyer 08-17-2004 06:38 PM

So there's your answer.

Bandit 08-17-2004 09:22 PM

I'm often too lazy to go into a poster's profile. :p

Anyways...

Anyone here a fan of Vlad Tepes?

JJ Moore 08-17-2004 10:32 PM

im gonna go see Dragonforce

asphyXy 08-17-2004 11:16 PM

One of my "associates" is in contact with the guys of Vlad Tepes. He played me some of their unreleased stuff a while back. It's insanely raw sounding.

RGWhat316 08-18-2004 02:36 AM

I've actually never listened to a whole lot of Megadeth. But I just heard their new song "Die Dead Enough", and I love it.
