Goldberg never returning... dam

Bill Goldberg has made it clear in his latest interview with Alex Marvez of WrestlingObserver that he will not be returning to the WWE anytime in the near future.

“I think the way they handled my character was moronic,” Goldberg told Marvez. “Any businessman who has business first and foremost on his mind wouldn’t have done what they did … People didn’t want to see Goldberg have emotions or laugh. They wanted to see him rip people’s heads off.”

Me goldberg.... me no smile.... me tear head from body... raaaaaaah!

Xero 08-19-2004 04:39 PM

I personally would have liked to see Goldberg do a happy jig on Triple H's lifeless body :shifty:

The Cerebral Assassin 08-19-2004 04:42 PM

Ohhh, I'm so sad I just cracked a smile.

The WWE needs more than Bill Goldberg's, Brock Lesnar's, Steve Austin's, The Rock's, or Hulk Hogan's to save it, they need the MESSIAH himself!

Jericho is already in the WWE

Chavo Classic 08-19-2004 04:46 PM

It's unlikely to happen now. He'll never come back unless the money is good. So, maybe if we all send goldberg a dollar each we can convince him to come back. Think about it, if every Goldbreg fan in the world sends him a dollar, well then he'll have about.... ermmm... well, change from a five.

AareDub 08-19-2004 04:50 PM

Good riddance. I would be happy to never see Bill Goldberg in a wrestling ring ever again. Hopefully that will be the case.

LK 08-19-2004 04:51 PM

This reason was a cover up. We all know the real reason is because he doesn't want another ass kicking form Jericho.

Yeh, the dude minus the thumb

I don't blame him. They pissed all over his career because they clearly didn't know what to do with him. Why did they even think about changing his finisher?

They knew what to do with him... They saw how well he was utilized in WCW... They just didnt give a fuck because Goldberg was a more recognizable figure when he was around in WCW than alot of the WWE's guys... I'd go as far as saying they tried to ruin his carrer, even though they DID give him the title...

Rob 08-19-2004 05:55 PM

If they knew what to do with him, they would have signed him in 2001.

They gave him the title... AFTER Triple H killed his heat and momentum at Summerslam in the Elimination Chamber.

Rob 08-19-2004 05:56 PM

And to add, they had so much faith in him that they signed him to a one year contract.

Bad Company 08-19-2004 06:10 PM

Goldberg could of been huge for the WWE, they fucked up.

Innovator 08-19-2004 06:26 PM

HHH beat Goldberg with one move, a sledgehammer to the shoulder :nono:

Boondock Saint 08-19-2004 06:50 PM

Hah. Coincidentally I'm watching Unforgiven 2003 right now where he beats HHH for the belt.

Up next is Steiner/Test part 9878 though.

RemyRed 08-19-2004 06:52 PM

Whether you like Bill Goldberg or not however, he is right.

The CyNick 08-19-2004 07:34 PM

Its funny reading Goldberg's comments that its clear he actually knows more about how wrestling works than Vince McMahon. Sad but true.

BigDaddyCool 08-19-2004 07:36 PM

goldbreg is a tool with no heart. If I ran a wrestling company and had goldberg sign on, I would put him in an angle to that made him out to be the jew he is. Then Hitler JBL would get involed and my company would go backrupt because only the KKK and skin heads would watch. :meh:

If I ran a company I'd make every match the same - winner marries someone's girlfriend. But rather than Lita on the line, how about Katie Vick? OOOOHHHH the controversy.

Sorry but if Bill Goldberg is anything then it's all heart

haha. Yeah, that's what I said to myself when I read that. Goldberg is right on with his comments. The WWE used him to further HHH's overness, if you want to even call it that. So both companies managed to fuck up with Bill Goldberg and both times it was because a particular wrestler put himself in front of business. Love how people learn from mistakes.

Batsu 08-19-2004 09:37 PM

Let's not forget that they basically gave the push he should have had to an unproven talent and copied his character almost 100% while doing it.

I'm not mad at Goldberg for not wanting to come back.

.44 Magdalene 08-19-2004 09:41 PM

I don't like Goldberg all that much, but the guy's got a point.

HeartBreakMan2k 08-19-2004 10:07 PM

I'm honestly not a fan of Goldberg, but his WWE run was a joke. Like everyone has said, they killed his character by not using it right. Almost as if they signed him just for the match with Brock and just to bury him.

WWE got Goldberg and sorry to say this, they pretty much treated him like damaged goods all through his tenure there. Management in this level of the show is, as we know, very cutthroat. Goldberg was a dominant force in WCW. We know first and foremost he wasn't that caliber in WWE.

They gave him a title run and had him beat Triple H cleanly. Ok, Triple H jobbed to him....finally. That's the fucking highlight of Goldberg's time with the company, imo.

There were some amusing moments.....
His brief feud with the Rock where he confronted Gilberg.......

There wasn't much else memorable. They didn't try to make Goldberg do comedy, they wanted him to have a personality....of sorts. With all due respect to him, Mr. Goldberg is a bit naieve to think that at the state of WWE and with people like Triple H having as much clout as he does that his expressionless, nonchalant demeanor would be profitable as long as he was kicking ass. WCW folded for a reason, and even though that's not one of them, he was going into a different ballgame. Too much competition for his character, they simply misused him. End of story.
