Your sporting moment of the year

Just say what has been,in your opinion or for you personally, the best moment(s) of 2003 in terms of sport.

For me it would be both England winning the rugby world cup and Leicester getting back to the Premiership and not being in the relegation zone for the start of the second half of the season.

Ninti the Mad 12-30-2003 08:52 AM

The Yankees not winning the World Series and this past weekend's football craziness are the two that stand out for me.

Sin Harvest 12-30-2003 02:50 PM

Jonny Wilkinson drop-kicking the English to victory against Austrailia, bringing new meaning to the term:

The one I had in my sig was mad funny, Moss 20yd TD against KC was reversed, so he threw a 19yd pass to Moss, and Smith ran the other yard straight away

The Miz 12-31-2003 01:17 AM

haha, what about the 28 yd td pass culpepper threw to moss

or was that the other team :?:

sadio8 12-31-2003 01:20 AM

For me, it would have to be when Aaron Boone hit the game-winning homerun off of Tim Wakefield in the ALCS to send the Yankees to the World Series :y:

DaveWadding 12-31-2003 02:12 AM

you mean this Matty?

BCWWF 12-31-2003 02:31 AM

The Aaron Boone home run was really shitty in a way, but it was probably the most important single play in a sport this year, and to be watching it live was pretty cool.

#1-norm-fan 12-31-2003 02:45 AM

I think the best moment of the year was the Colts' Monday Night Miracle in Tampa.

My favorite moment PERSONALLY was Dallas' Monday Night Miracle in New York.

DaveWadding 12-31-2003 02:56 AM

Nate Poole's catch is mine, BTW.

Jerichoholic 12-31-2003 01:36 PM

Watching the Ducks in the Playoffs this year probably.

Which also lead to my most heartbreaking moment in seeing Paul go to the Avas...:(

The most heartbreaking moment was seeing Fedrov go to the damn Ducks :(

Head 12-31-2003 04:59 PM

Clemons getting his 4000th strikeout and 300th win in the same game.

FearedSanctity 12-31-2003 05:28 PM

Anywho, I dunno what mine would be... Lions signing Rogers, watching the Ducks/Stars series in last year's play-offs, or hell even the Cardinals/Vikings game there

Kid Robb 12-31-2003 09:56 PM

Febuary at Upton Park - England 1 Australia 3

RWC Semi Final, beating the oh so great All Blacks when no one expected us to get anywhere near them, let alone beat them and get into the final.

Kinda off topic, but I was at the game when he threw his 3000th strikeout.

YOUR Hero 01-01-2004 04:35 PM

Canucks beating the Blues, yeah.
But then... :'(

Y2C 01-01-2004 10:03 PM

The biggest moment this year was by far Wilkinson's kick (as much as I hate to say it :()

Others that I'll remember are:

- Steve Waugh's century to save his career
- Matty Hayden's world record Innings against Zimbabwe . (Pity it won't be remembered that much because of the opposition).
- Warne getting caught doin drugs
- Collingwood getting flogged in the AFL GF

Team Sheep 01-03-2004 04:50 PM

Shane Williams tearing through England's "world class" defence in the rugby world cup quarter finals, and seeing probably the best try I've ever seen. If only we had kept our disciplin and not conceeded so many penalties, we would have gone through to the semi's, and england would have gone home empty handedly. We clearly outplayed them, we beat them on try count 3-1!! And at the end of the day, considering wales' poor form coming into that match, loosing by an 11 point margin to the world champs aint too bad now is it?

Watching the Ducks make it to the Stanley Cup finals when every one figured they'd get swept by the Wings in round 1. If only they could have won Game 7. ****ing Devils.

Optik 01-04-2004 05:05 PM

Dolphins having a 10-6 season and still not making the playoffs. :|

Actually, us buying Tim Howard.

Goodbye Fabien "crap dive and wave your arms any which way but the balls way" Barthez, you worthless POS.

I did feel guilty when I saw the picutres of him looking sad though.

But it's his own fault for sucking ASOJFOJSAD.

Y2Ant 01-05-2004 01:46 PM

Where is Barthez now?

Have they sold him yet?
