When will they unmask Rey Mysterio?

I'd like Mysterio to keep the mask. It gives him a distinct idenity, and is great for marketing.

his mask is pretty much his trademark. Losing his mask in WCW was horrible as he became just another dude.

Yeah it's an easy storyline to write but the payoff could and would kill Mysterio in the WWE.

Dragon? Mysterio? Who cares? I mean, who can really make a difference between the two? Both are small and use a mask, no one can remember which is Mysterio and which Dragon, right? :roll:

Actually, that gives me an idea...

If they have Ultimo Dragon come back without his mask and end up winning some key victories, maybe winning the cruiserweight championship. Then he's all cocky and says it was because that ever since he chose to take off the Ultimo mask that he's earned all this success.

Insert Mysterio who usedto be Ultimo's 'friend' or whatever. Who brings up references to the tradition of the mask. Ultimo keeps trying to get Mysterio to take off his mask. Then he turns violent and attacks Mysterio but still cannot manage to get the mask off. (Something like he pulls off one mask only to reveal a second mask. Then he pulls off the second mask only to reveal a third. Then mysterio recovers and gets away)

Then they have a match with the stips... If Mysterio loses then he must take off his mask... but then Mysterio can cut a promo saying that if he wins then Ultimo must go back to the mask and save all these fans from having to see his ugly face every week. Then have the cruiser title on the line as well. A good PPV match that will draw for Smack Down.

If the WWE is dead set on having Rey lose his mask then this would the be the best angle for it.

I'd like to see Spike vs Rey. Title vs. Mask. Of course, it would be a tease, and Rey would win the title back.

Unmasking works on lower card masked wrestlers who are about to be pushed to the moon (ie. Juventud Guerrera before he became a junkie).

And they were all shocked, too.

They should have based eliminations on whether they said "Yeah, I know what you look like. I watched you for, like, two years without it in WCW."

Rey would lose alot of his cool factor if he took off the mask...kinda like Kane did. He'd just look like another guy. Have his own personality? Yeah. But the awesome look would be gone. There's not alot of masked guys left on TV these days.

the thing is Kane is one of the big men left in the WWE, take away his mask and he's still one of the big men, and a big guy who can go in the ring.

You take away Rey's mask, he's another cruiserweight who will get buried.

It was good for Kane when he got unmasked until Shane came along.

I dunno. Vince seems to like Rey, even though he is one of the smallest guys on the roster... which would typically go against his logic.

Rey has the mask because it makes him distinctive, just like Foley first had his mask when he arrived as Cactus Jack because, I recall from Have a Nice Day, because it helps distinguish from the competition.... and because it looks cool.

Unmasking didn't really work for Psicosis, or Rey the first time he did it, so why would he do it again?

Keep the mask on, it is his identity so far. It would be a huge waste if he took it off, IMO.
