"Urotsukidoji" by Testament.

RoXer 08-28-2004 02:13 AM

Lotta Sublime songs have good baselines.

Ebin, Let's Go Get Stoned, Pawn Shop, Under My Voodoo, Don't Push.

I'm telling you, Eric Wilson is the most underrated bass player ever.

DegenerationY 08-28-2004 02:17 AM

Feels So Good by 311.

P-Nut is SUPER underrated.

FakeLaser 08-28-2004 02:55 AM

Radiohead - The National Anthem
Glassjaw - The Gillette Calvalcade Of Sports (The part towards the end where Darryl is talking about the race)
Incubus - Battlestar Scralatchtica
AFI - Death Of Seasons
Midtown - Give It Up
Brand New - Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades (yeah that's a pretty obvious one)

Anything by The Mars Volta since Flea is the bassist.

Primus - Tommy The Cat (just the main groove, if you can nail the main groove I will give you mad props)
Death Angel - Discontinued
Primus - Over The Electric Grapevine
Green Day - Longview (you probably already know this one, but its mad fun to play)
Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back (another fun yet easy groove)

Joeleosis 08-28-2004 06:59 AM

Oh shit I didn't even delve into my funk inventory:

Rick James - Superfreak
Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots (probably sounds more familar with Will Smith rapping over it :o)
James Brown - Sex Machine (motown basswork is the man)
George Clinton & Parliament - Tear The Roof Off

Basically all funk is mad fun to play. Work on your soul, brother.

Maxwell Murder is going to take you forever, especially that bass solo. How long you been playing bass?

Primus - Professor Nutbutters House of treats (Or anything by Primus...)
Society by Pennywise has a nice bassline to it.

Penner 08-29-2004 01:08 PM

alkaline trio - you've got so far to go

road doggy dogg 08-29-2004 01:42 PM

Haha yeah, that solo is pretty crazy. I got the rest of the song down though, just gotta work on the solo now

JJ Moore 08-29-2004 02:01 PM

Megadeth - Peace Sells

LK 08-29-2004 04:31 PM

asphyXy 08-30-2004 12:09 AM

How are you doing with Urotsukidoji?

Joeleosis 08-30-2004 01:12 AM

Urotsukidoji = porno thrash metal avec jibberish

Joeleosis 08-30-2004 01:12 AM

No, but I was just figuring there might be some that he just can't stand and might not want anything to do with. =\

Pathetic 08-30-2004 03:32 PM

Anything Primus.

also some Alice In Chains.

Mike the Metal Ed 09-05-2004 09:08 PM

Just noticed I forgot to whore Iron Maiden in a music forum post.

Iron Maiden - Killers
Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Bigmc 09-07-2004 09:19 PM

Black Sabbath - NIB

Joeleosis 09-08-2004 04:47 AM

Learn some Face To Face songs. I just came back from their fairwell show and it was savage, great bass player.

FakeLaser 09-08-2004 12:56 PM

Muse - New Born

OssMan 09-08-2004 06:16 PM

Muse has a shitty bassist. Primus has a really good bassist (Les Claypool), but they aren't very good. they emphasize the bass though-- which really stands out.

look at Victor Wooten, his album A Show of Hands is amazing, and listen to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (he plays with them). Sinister Minister is has an awesome bass part.

also Faires Wear Boots by Black Sabbath.

Also, Hysteria by Muse is pretty good for bass.

OssMan 09-08-2004 08:19 PM

:o

the bass I heard on Absolution wasn't very good, but my brother is a big fan of them and he just told me to listen to New Born. the bass in it is pretty good I must admit.

diothoir 09-08-2004 09:37 PM

Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
Chic - Good Times
Chic - Everybody Dance

asphyXy 09-08-2004 10:39 PM

Anti-Flag - Seattle Was A Riot

It's about the only thing I could suggest that you'll actually learn.

Origin of Symmetry is a much better album than Absolution.
