Ichiro Suzuki

The record is 257.

BCWWF 09-05-2004 10:19 PM

Just because he's from Seattle doesn't mean he's going to break the record :shifty:

Loose Cannon 09-05-2004 10:19 PM

Yeah, Sisler has got it. I'll tell you if he breaks it, which I doubt he will, that will be fuckin awesome. That record was set in 1920. So it's been 84 years years now that it's stayed in tact. I think he'll get around 240.

The Miz 09-05-2004 10:21 PM

I am hoping he slows down and does it in the last series of the season against Texas, because thats the last series I have tickets for

BCWWF 09-05-2004 10:22 PM

The crazy part about all of this is how average his first half was

YOUR Hero 09-05-2004 10:22 PM

I say 262

The Miz 09-05-2004 10:23 PM

MY MONEY IS ON 267

Loose Cannon 09-05-2004 10:26 PM

Anything from 260 on is pushing it. You guys are going to jynx him. Save your morning paper if he breaks it though. I know I am :D

The Miz 09-05-2004 10:27 PM

I am gonna see Ichiro's last hit of his record breaking season and Edgar Martinez last game the same weekend. ohhh yeahhhh

Gonna cry on Edgar's last AB :o

Loose Cannon 09-05-2004 10:31 PM

Thing is, is that nobody has even come close since Lefty O'Doul in 1929. He had 254. I mean, I'm not sure a lot of fans recognize just how amazing this will be if he breks it. And the fact that he's playing for a last place team makes it even more remarkable.

YOUR Hero 09-05-2004 10:38 PM

267?

Jesus.

Edgar <3

Loose Cannon 09-05-2004 10:42 PM

And Sisler played in a 154 season. Uh Oh.... This may bring a debate if Ichiro gets like 258. :o

YOUR Hero 09-05-2004 10:51 PM

18 triples

YOUR Hero 09-05-2004 10:52 PM

I was going to mention the 154 games thing too... brings up Babe/Marris type analogies.

The Miz 09-05-2004 10:52 PM

Different era.

YOUR Hero 09-05-2004 10:54 PM

when McGwire was going for the HR record, they kept mentioning the games thing, so...

Loose Cannon 09-05-2004 11:03 PM

Can't believe he played every game though or actually I can believe that. See, that's why I love the old players a lot. Not taking anything anway from today's players, but the old players from 1900-1930 played every game, pitched when they had to pitch. They were a lot tougher back then , then the players today. There was no such thing as a DL. The only things that kept players out was some kind of disease like menengitis(sp) tuburculosis (sp) etc.... A great pitcher named Addie Joss had menengitis(sp) in during 1911, collapsed during a game, then died two days later. Unfortunately, that's how is was back then. If you felt a little sick, which Joss was that day, you pitched. They were in danger of losing their jobs if they didn't do their job every day they were suppossed to.

Like Miz said, Different Era.

BCWWF 09-06-2004 01:57 AM

Psst..Don't tell Moonax about the whole different era thing...it may upset him...

Funky Fly 09-06-2004 04:02 AM

I don't even watch baseball, and I keep hearing about this guy breaking the record. Fuck, I say he'll go insane and break it with 283.

el fregadero 09-06-2004 05:06 PM

274

Yashamaga 09-06-2004 07:00 PM

Ichiro is the man, he'll do it.
