Mercury Music Award

Yeah, so Franz Ferdinand won in case you didn't know.

The full list was:

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
The Zutons - Who Killed... The Zutons?
Amy Winehouse - Frank
Keane - Hopes and Fears
Snow Patrol - Final Straw
Basement Jaxx - Kish Kash
Joss Stone - The Soul Sessions
Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress
Jamelia - Thank You
Robert Wyatt - Cuckooland
Ty - Upwards

Who would you picked to win if you got to decide?

Also did Franz Ferdinand deserve to win?
I thought their album wasn't anything special :-\

The only band on there that I've heard before is Franz Ferdinand, and they suck.

Franz Ferdinand, The Zutons or Snow Patrol...

Franz Ferdinand are the only band on that list I like, so yes.

I haven't heard one of their albums but of the stuff I have heard, I'd pick Snow Patrol.

Snow Patrol should have won. I fail to see what is so great about the Franz.

Outsider 09-10-2004 07:35 PM

A large amount of the albums tend to be bland, shit indie.

The Streets deserve to win for doing something so original and different yet still managaing to get it to work

I have no faith in any awards ceremony at all these days. I mean The Darkness won a song writing award earlier this year, which really weirded me out.

Oh, and Joss Stone didn't deserve to be on that list. Shes hot, but her voice and music are completly overrated.
