Most comical wrestler?
Was watching the flair dvd last night and it got to the rumble match. I have to say virtually anything piper did in that match had me in fits laughing. Just his mannerisms and the noises he made in the ring, he always had sorta a "goofy" style which to me always brought some comic relief to matches that could be boring at times. Few of the things i seen in the rumble was, taker grabbing flair by the neck and choking him (which seemed to be about takers only move back then) then piper coming over and helping him choke him, the taker grabbing piper by the neck at the same time and piper letting out a big howl. One of the closeups had jake trashtalking piper and piper sorta wound up that big "shout of his" and telegraped a poke in the eyes and still hit it.
I think for a comedic standpoint theres few that could compete witth him, even the way he threw punches with one arm behind the head and alternating, just little subtle things that made his matches fun to watch. Any other wrestlers that spring to mind in the same vein? |
Mick Foley, Owen Hart... but I don't go back more that 1995 :$

The Rock, a definite follower of the Flair school of wrestling.
I can't remember a match where The Rock was wrestling that I didn't find funny. The People's Elbow is one of the most hilarious moves in pro wrestling and it's mindboggling how he gets me to laugh at that move after doing it a million times. |
Christian. From his silly hats and ridiculus glasses back in the E&C days, to his bits with Jericho about, "Hey, my name starts with C too, I can give her a dose of vitiman C as well!" Everything he does it just damned funny.

If we're talkinga bout in terms of comedy outside of the ring as well, the E & C/Angle/Mic Foley/Rhyno era skits made me piss my pants just about every time. I miss that sh</>it so bad. I'm gonna have to look through some tapes.
As far as in the actual ring, I think a tag team that may be overlooked here is Too Much. Not as Too Cool, because that sh</>it was just stupid. I'm talking about when Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor had that quasi-gay gimmick. I laughed a lot at their matches. Same thing for Lenny and Lodi in WCW, but I think they just may have been gimmick ripping. |
Oh, and Norman Smiley is hilarious.
|
Ehhh Doink of course, or Shamrock, Shamrock because when ever he freaked out it looked as if his head would pop like a baloon.
|
Repo Man!
|
In ring would be Eddie Guerrero.
|
big show, and back when Hurricane's gimmick first started and he'd try to powerbomb guys like big show, kane.
|
The Rock, Christian, and Foley and Chris Jericho

Owen was great. The things he would spurt out on air from time to time were priceless. I'm trying to remember something particular, but I can't. I'll try to remember a funny one later.

He would start the match and his opponent would get the upperhand with any move, like a headlock takedown, a armbar or a throwdown. Owen would slap the mat frustrated, get up and go for another tie-up, then cheat to do the exact move that his opponent got on him the last time by pulling the hair or something. Once the other guy is down, he would raise his arms in the air and shout "WOOOOOOOO!". I loved that. |
* Christian
* Foley * Owen * Eddie * Jericho (He was the funniest in WCW) * Normal Smiley (I think he should be in the WWE) |
Jericho ("Come'on ba-baee" during pin)
Matt Hardy ("V-oneahhhh!" After a reversal or good takedown) Austin (Just fliping someone off is funny :foc: ) Eddie G. (Alway cheating) The Rock (Nuff said) Ric Flair (He makes me laugh just in the begining of the match.Just when your about to lock up he swipes his hands by his hair and strudes across and give you the famous WOOOOOOOO!) "The Model" Rick Martel (During the match he do a reveral and run into a cartwheel and do some jumping jacks, classic) That I can think of now, but I know there's more. |
Goldust
Owen Rock Christian Foley Norman Smiley Edge Angle Austin Matt Hardy in his SD days HHH in his DX days Road Dogg Al Snow King Tajiri That's it for me |
In the ring I find Chavo one of the funniest guys ever.
|
Kane...he's hilarious..
|
Goldust, especially with his most recent WWE stint. He was good at wrestling, and hilarious. |
Austin, Eddie, Rock/Y2J during the alliance.. i remember Rock, doing his rock bottom on jericho, walking away and letting soemoen else pin him for the tag titles (that he and y2j had) but then he ran right back in and broke the pin.. man classic
also ernest the cat miller at royal rumble 2k4 |
Crash was pretty funny.
|
Jericho's comedy is half of why I'm such a huge mark for him.
|
Jericho is funny
i remember seeing war game '98 (i think), and Jericho's music started, and you see him walking through the corridor, and he keeps walking the wrong way, and eventually walks outside, lol Foley i funny (i liked him as the commisioner) Christian and Edge Eddie G Jerry Lawler is very quick, he can say the funniest stuff also. "Ivory is such a butterface. Everything's great but her face" :D LOL! but, Mr.Angle is the funniest wrestler IMO. "I just got beaten by a friggin 12 year old!" I find regal funny also, in a nonchalant sorta way |
