When have shows "jumped the shark"

Just wondering when your opinions are of shows that have jumped the shark, meaning go downhill., past and present

I'll throw out a few shows

South Park
Simpsons
Star Trek (any one)
In living Color
Seinfeld

OssMan 09-09-2004 08:22 PM

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

I don't get it, Seinfeld never "jumped the shark".

To some people it did. Not to others. Some feel Larry David leaving hurt the show, which I kinda agree with. But wouldn't say it jumped.

South Park has gotten BETTER over the years.

BCWWF 09-10-2004 12:25 AM

Seinfeld was lame in like the last couple episodes, besides that it was always perfect.

A lot of people think South Park is better now than ever, but it simply lost its outrageousness, its shock value mind you.

The Simpsons is the show that has gone down hill, its not even funny for the past five years.

Gilligan's Island.

Harlem Globetrotters make a special appearance.

i know there's a website, i was just wondering on your opinions. and yes, some shows never have.

In living color- when Keenan got sued off the show

Seinfeld- When Larry David left

Married With Children- When Seven was introduced

I liked Seinfeld the whole time it went on, and like someone above said, South Park just gets better..

El Santo 09-10-2004 09:55 AM

The "Star Trek" shows definietly jumped the shark with Voyager --- there's a reason why Spike TV isn't playing it nonstop --- but with the individual series that preceded it (the original show, Next Generation, and Deep Space Nine) I don't think that their was a particular jump-the-shark moment in either one.

Speaking of which does Enterprise suck?

And Simpsons still rock.

OssMan 09-12-2004 01:25 AM

WWE Smackdown
WWE Raw
WWE Sunday Night Heat

Happy Days. That Fonzy is so crazy.

TheNamelessOne 09-12-2004 10:26 AM

The Simpsons went down hill after the 34567819th episode completly revolving around Homer and some new "wacky" situation he has been put in.

ct2k 09-12-2004 11:05 AM

Jumping the shark isn't simply going down hill. It's when a show just goes that bit too far and then becomes a bit of a joke. I think its called that after Fonzy literally jumped over a shark on waterskis in happy days one time

It's been a bit mixed, but it actually got better last season.

I agree not all episodes are gold but new ones like when Homer was about to get assassinated, or when they went to the ranch are awesome.

Savio 09-12-2004 12:45 PM

Oh yes and the show about that black lawyer who adopted a kid.

The Frank Grimes Junior episode? That was one of the worst offenders...

Which is different than the 34567819th episode where Kramer came up with a wacky scheme, George pretended to be somebody he wasn't to impress a woman, and Jerry was whiny?

Than the 34567819th episode where Ray's parents bother Debra, so Debra bothers Ray, so Ray is whiny?

Than the 34567819th episode where Lucy tries to get into Ricky's show, Ricky tells her no, she schemes her way into it, and messes it up, understanding in the end that Ricky was right?

Correct.

Scarface 09-12-2004 07:10 PM

Simpsons jumped the shark when the storyline where something happens and they have to go somewhere to sort it out. Bart Vs Australia was awesome. The rest have been dire.

I agree, last season (Season 8) was the best season yet.
