Best Gimmick

Who do u think has had the best gimmick EVER?

In my opinion it was Kane (original version - full masked) there was a lot f mystery surrounding the character until they screwed with his storylines and gave him feelings and emotions. In my opinion he shouldve remained a 'super-heel' and wouldve been good to see him side by side with Taker in the Ministry instead of that X-Pac/Tori crap we were subjected to.

Anyway, back to the point - Who do u think had the best gimmick? Why? And did the company they were with screw it up? If so, how?

It has to be Stone Cold Steve Austin. That gimmick is the main thing that got he WWE back to the top of wrestling. It sold the most merchandise, it was part of earning the highest buy rates and made people want to watch the WWE rather than WCW.

Wasn't the origonal Kane voted best gimmick ever?

Best gimmick is tough because of all the wide range but certainly Kane, Taker, and Stone Cold would all have to be up there.

And I also feel Sting did the best gimmick change ever. Although any examples of other good gimmick changes would be interesting.

as far as good gimmick changes, i would say takers conversion from the darkside to the american badass - that was a very extreme change. although the sting character is a very good example of this also

Aside from being a Taker mark, I'd have to say The Undertaker, in full... By that I mean his complete evolution... From the beginning, to the Ministry, to the ABA, to the "new" Undertaker... Although a dead/dark gimmick isnt the most orignal thing in the world, The Undertaker (Mark Calloway) played it PERFECTLY IMO... He played it so people would REALLY hate him, from burying someone, to sacraficing someone, it was perfect...

The American Bad Ass was a HUGE change, and I dont think anyone but Mark Calloway could have pulled off such a dramatic change with that character...

Undertaker as heel is the best, although even when he's face, he can still be "evil" to a degree... The ABA was best face... All in all though, the entire Undertaker evolution was best IMO...

The ABA would have to fall into the gimmick change catagory, too...

Undertaker. Also, Million Dollar Man :y:

The Bad Guy Razor Ramon.

Mr. Perfect. He was so arogant that he was cool. He could deliver in the ring and those perfect promos were incredible. I was just a kid when I watched him and I seriously wanted to be like him even when he was a heel. No other heel had me liking them when I was young.
Even his music rocked because it was different, yet worked so well. It's a damn shame he was never World Champ.

The best gimmick is the Undertaker

He said it all :y:

Besides him, Shockmaster. I take after the guy, evertime I go threw a doorway I trip and fall - so if theres a staircase after the door then its trouble.

I can't believe nobody's said Doink yet. Come on, people.

Stickman 09-19-2004 08:14 PM

Remember the Warlord, Skinner, Hercules, Barbarian, Duke the Dumpster, Brooklin Brawler? Those were the days....

TJ4LIFE 09-19-2004 08:25 PM

i just got the latest Smackdown! magazine, and WWE proudly breaks what we used to call kayfabe again. They have a section on really bad gimmicks and actually state what other gimmicks they had! Even though, sadly, before this i didnt realise the Repo Man was Smash of Demolition....

What about tough guy, beer drinking, cigar smoking redneck to stock broker?

JBL - JBL - JBL - JBL

Aussie Skier 09-20-2004 06:12 AM

I'd say the best gimmicks are:
Ted Debiasse (how could he have once been a face!)
Rock
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Triple H (The game)
Undertaker was cool (but prolly could have backfired)
Kane is cool
Booker T is good also
as is John Cena
