Muhammad Ali vs. Mike Tyson

Yes, I am actually doing a non-basketball related poll. :D

Okay, both fighters are in the prime of their careers. They got 15 long rounds to box. In the end, who'd be the winner?

Cool King 09-18-2004 04:55 PM

Muhammad Ali

Joe Kerr 09-18-2004 05:00 PM

Muhammad Ali he is/ was much quicker than tyson

el fregadero 09-18-2004 05:10 PM

Tyson.

That's right.

YOUR Hero 09-18-2004 05:27 PM

Ali was too savy for Tyson.

MoRcHeEbA 09-18-2004 05:28 PM

Different times, different Boxers you can't compare them to each other.

YOUR Hero 09-18-2004 05:57 PM

Tyson fought a lotscrubs, Ali fought elite boxers. Some would overloook that, see a Tyson fight, see the result and think Tyson was unstoppable. Ali's era, there were more world class boxers and Ali was the best of them.

LK 09-18-2004 07:29 PM

Ali would have just been too good for Tyson

RemyRed 09-18-2004 11:19 PM

Tyson was too much of a brawler, Ali would've threw him off with foot work and then eventually tire him out.

el fregadero 09-19-2004 01:51 AM

It wouldn't really matter who won, just watching the knockout shot (and there would be one by somebody  ) would be beautiful.

Innovator 09-19-2004 04:04 AM

Ali fought in the golden days of boxing, with great contenders

Tyson fought out of shape white guys

VonErich Lives 09-19-2004 11:29 AM

tough call... I'm going to say Tyson for this reason... Ali played a lot of games and dancing and such, but he also let himself get hit a lot... rope-a-dope and such... Tyson in his prime had possible the hardest punch of all time. All he'd need is one good shot and Ali would be done... maybe not drop on that shot, but would be enough to get him to drop his gaurd and let tyson finish him off.

Rob 09-19-2004 12:13 PM

Tyson wouldn't even make my top 5 best heavyweights. The guy fought only two guys I'd call great and was beaten badly in three fights. He was also knocked out in his prime by a 40-1 shot and then later by a 25-1 shot in Danny Williams.

Ali would laugh at this twerp.

See, I can't judge or fault a guy on who he fought. Was it Tysons fault in his prime he didn't have a Frazier or Foreman to face?

YOUR Hero 09-19-2004 04:01 PM

Well VEL it's not like Foreman didn't have a hard punch and it's not like Ali wasn't pounded in his day. He absorbed a ton of shots in his day. Foreman was the original 'Clubber Lang' and Ali showed people how a technician can make a brawler beat himself.

YOUR Hero 09-19-2004 04:02 PM

Oh and Ali, he didn't hit with a light touch either.

No argument there, but Foreman was also much bigger then Tyson, Tyson combined that amazing power w/ speed and a small frame which allowed him to avoid a lot. (and yes, I know Foreman wasn't always as big as he is now weight wise).

FakeLaser 09-19-2004 06:01 PM

Ali, definitely.

The Outlaw 09-19-2004 07:24 PM

So, there are 4 people who actually voted for Tyson?

Were they all Heyman?

slextremely 09-20-2004 01:53 AM

Ali is the Greatest, Tyson wouldnt last 5 rounds.

Funky Fly 09-20-2004 03:33 AM

Ali would rock Tyson. Tyson wouldn't be able to match the footwork and would definately get thrown off by the mind-games.

Lara Emily 09-20-2004 04:05 AM

Ali easily.

VonErich Lives 09-20-2004 11:03 AM

Could Tyson lose? Of course... but I really don't think people are giving him enough credit.

The man was fast, hit hard and had good footwork.

It's not his fault there were not great HW's to face and well, it was his fault that he missed a good chunk of the prime of his career when they HW's starting getting good. (then again, so did Ali).

YOUR Hero 09-20-2004 12:22 PM

Tyson, I would've compare him to Foreman, but he's not even that. Short, Ali would jab him to death.

Gertner 09-20-2004 04:03 PM

I'd compare Tyson to Sonny Liston. Liston was a basketcase too.

Gonzo 09-21-2004 12:27 AM

Is this topic serious? :|

He had a Foreman and Holyfield in his prime and did nothing. He had years of rest others didn't and in his prime, he got smacked about by a Buster Douglas!

diothoir 09-23-2004 09:48 PM

Ali within 6 rounds.
