A quick question for the bass players around here...
I've been starting to think about picking up my (acoustic) guitar and learning how to play that, then buy an electric and learn that. I came across this bass (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/519243/)
and figured at that price, why not buy it and learn bass too. That way I can have the knowledge, if I ever get in a band and its needed. So, the question to you bass players is, how good of a starter instrument do you think that one would be? |
Rogue is typically shit. Buy a cheap Ibanez bass or something. If you think you're going to be serious about bass, get an ESP. ESP makes fucking awesome basses, so it'd be worth the extra few bucks to get one.

I have a cheap Ibanez
It was like $120 Canadian, for a used lefty one... hot price  |
that's a pretty shitty bass. you could get a Yamaha RBX something for like $170, pretty good for starters.

I learned how to play bass before guitar, definitely made it easier. |
Rogues aren't very good at all. I own the same model myself, it was my first bass. It produces a really bad tone and its way too light. The pickups have a tendency to pick up high frequencies way too much (clicks and snaps) and they are horriblely pieced together... mine falls apart a lot. Ibanez and Fender makes better for starter basses. And I don't like Yamahas either.
