Star Wars Trilogy on DVD

Came out here in NZ today.
When's it due out/When did it come out in your country?
Who got it?

I sure as hell did :D

Champion of Europa 09-21-2004 11:26 PM

I hate Star Wars.

DaveWadding 09-21-2004 11:28 PM

Came out today. I bought it. Not for me, but for my sister who loves George Lucas up the butt.

Gonzo 09-21-2004 11:36 PM

Came out officially today. Got it in and put it out at work Friday. I am getting it for about $45 American. It runs about $75 after tax in American regurlarly, but I get discounts cause I work for a video store rental place.

YOUR Hero 09-21-2004 11:49 PM

Why buy it yet again? I just don't understand...

Bad Company 09-21-2004 11:54 PM

Because I'm a big Star Wars Fan and I lost my VHS Copies of the originals, so why not buy them?

Gonzo 09-21-2004 11:54 PM

I don't have the tapes or anything. I watched a little bit of one of the movies at work on the TV system, the picture quality itself is leaps and bounds over the original. They did an excellent job digitally remastering it. The whole disc devoted to special features is practically worth it alone. The movies are good stuff, I think it is worth it, at least to me because I can get it for cheaps.

Gouda 09-22-2004 12:03 AM

What disappoints me about it is that it's the Special Edition of Star Wars and not the original. Special Edition changes some of the music! :foc:

Kapoutman 09-22-2004 12:15 AM

I might buy it if the price is not too expensive.

You still aren't getting the originals.

I know this, but you can't find the Originals anywhere anyway, so I'm not too concerned. Most Star Wars Purists will be irritated by the Special Editions, but there's not alot you can do really.

The Cerebral Assassin 09-22-2004 01:48 AM

I have both the 1995 THX edition and the 2004 DVD boxset.

I actually have an unopened copy of the original boxset....

Sephiroth 09-22-2004 04:37 PM

I'm gettin it tomorrow...Star Wars is the freakin goods!

Boondock Saint 09-22-2004 05:14 PM

Ya got mine last week. Good stuff it is. :y:

Smitty 09-22-2004 06:25 PM

Alright, they're George Lucas's films. He can fuck with them if he wants, get over it. Nevertheless, even with the changes, these movies are still one of the greatest trilogies ever. Once I start my job and accumulate income, I'll pick this up.

Dark Kane 09-22-2004 10:20 PM

I almost picked it up today but it was too pricey at the store I went to. I'll get it at Best Buy this week instead.

I have the original, as in, the 1st relase ever, of the ESB on VHS. I used to have them all, but the other 2 got lost when we moved from England back to the states.

Gertner 09-23-2004 12:58 AM

Shaggy 09-23-2004 02:43 PM

Dont have the money on me right now for it...but soon in my house they will be.

Dark Kane 09-24-2004 12:21 AM

I just picked it up from Best Buy earlier tonight, wOOt!!!

Can't wait to watch it. It only costed me 42.99, great deal. I'm about to watch "A New Hope" right now.

I just got done watching all 3 films on this set, I would have to say that the picture and sound quality is amazing.

I have no problem with the scene changes in "A New Hope" and "Empire Strike Back", they don't bother me.

But I'm upset at all the changes of "Return of the Jedi". I don't think I'll ever watch the '97 version of "Jedi" ever again. Very dissapointing and saddening. The ending of "Return Of Jedi" was very sickening. The changes of the music, the city locations during the victory celebration, and the change of the Anakin ghost from the old Anakin to the younger Anakin. Pathetic.

that must have been one rockin saturday night!

House of Pancakes 09-28-2004 03:47 PM

George Lucas happened to put together the only good idea he's ever had in his life with Star Wars, so now he's looking for as many ways as humanly possibly to make money off of the same idea.

Fox 10-04-2004 01:23 AM

What about "Howard the Duck"?

Boondock Saint 10-04-2004 04:20 AM

Or American Graffiti? Or Indiana Jones?

What the fu</>ck is going on in your head. The way the prequels have turned out now, the old ghost of Anakin makes no sense at all, and why the hell do music changes make a difference? I miss my Ewok song too, but for God's sake, all the crying about it is the real sickening thing.

John la Rock 10-15-2004 10:10 PM

Well I'm not wasting money on the DVD's since I all ready have them on VHS.
