Atlanta Braves win 13th Consecutive Division Title
How about that, when very few thought they had a chance, they come out and show everyone just what a real team should be.
Now they just have to get past the Cards and it's not so bad. And that celebration song they have "Jump On It" is awesome. Jump on it! Jump on it! Go Braves!!! :D :y: |
mlb season thread

Jump On It, referring to the bandwagon The Outlaw is riding on  JK man!
Thats pretty tight that they came through and won it again. There was a time this summer when I was totally confident the streak was over, but I found myself rooting for them as the season went on. Unfortunately I just can't see a bright playoff future this year, but thats nothing new I guess. |

But yeah, unbelievable that they did it IMO.

Yeah us Torontians like to hang onto things that happened a long time ago. |
The Braves have lost to alot of teams. :(
Still my favorite team, though. |
Remember when Kent Hrbek pulled Ron Gant off first base and then tagged him out? Haha, greatest play of all time, 91 World Series.
|
Remember when Kirby Puckett could see
|
Yea

Isn't he apparently the biggest dick ever? |
No, that would be Bonds
|
Kirby stepped out of the spotlight after he was accused of beating his wife or something a few years back. Before that he was a really good guy in the community.
|
Micheal Jackson was a real good guy in the community before he started touching little boys
|
Awesome analogy man!

That's one thing that bothers me about the re-aligned MLB.
Yes, the Braves' streak is impressive, and the fact that they won so many in a row before re-alignment happened is impressive, but now, instead of having to be better than six or seven teams to win your division, you've only got to worry about three or four. If the divisions were the way they were when the streak started, the Braves would be a second-place team, on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Don't get me wrong, it's an impressive streak, but this is just one of those things that bothers me about modern baseball. People talk about how no team in history has ever had this kind of run. Well, no team in history has ever played in divisions of this size against a talent pool this diluted fighting for as many playoff spots. It's like when people talk about how impressive the current Yankees are because of their postseason stats. Well, of course! They play more playoff games now than at any other point in history. When you get an extra series, you're going to put up more home runs and RBIs and saves and wins. |
Granted though their division isn't totally week. The NL wildcard came out of there last year and in 2000 in recent memory.
If guys like Ron Gant could just stop on the base and not across it to get tagged out, maybe they would have a little more success :p |
1994 anyone?
|
They should win that division every year.. Worst division in the MLB
|
Honestly, the worst division is the AL Central. There is always one good team and the others are shit.

Get the hell out of this thread. |
^ Nah actaully I'm just saying that because the Phillies are in the NL East and they suck! So calm down dick
|
I definitely HATE the Braves
Best Moment of Baseball for me was when Mitch Williams struck out (i think) Mark Lemke to win the NLCS at Veterans Stadium. I was in attendance and I was 8 years old. I remember 66,000 + doing the Tomahawk Chop in unisen to taunt the shit out the Braves. We were the NL East Champs, they were the NL West Champs. But I do respect Bobby Cox, he is a terrific manager and does deserve the credit. He lost Sheffield (AL MVP?, Vinny Castilla (2nd in RBIs) and Javy Lopez and still got this team to the Division Crown. Assholes. Hopefully, the Phils could do something this coming season. Who knows? |
You're going to get flamed bit time for that, although I don't think you deserve it :-/

The NL East has the Braves, Marlins, and Phillies, all of whom have been in the playoff hunt in the last couple of years. The AL Central has...Minnesota. |
The Mets have been decent in past years aswell. The AL Central has pretty much been a runaway for the last...forever...Before the Twins nobody was really challenging the Indians for a while.
|
I seem to have a better memory of a different Mitch Williams performance

Cox is not a terrific manager you idiot. While he has done a great job this year, look at the past. You stupid MORON GOSH. |
Outlaw, I'm ready for NBA season, are you?

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. Gonna be a crazy year I think. |
