Favorite DVD commentary
I think this might be interesting. Discuss your favorite commentaries on DVD. Besides the Lord of the Rings commentaries, I really liked the commentary on Freddy vs. Jason. Robert Englund is so funny on that.

Evil Dead II is great.

Almost Famous - Bootleg Edition (Cameron Crowe and his mom both talking is very touching)
UHF - (Al Yankovic, the director, and Michael Richards, can't get any better than that!!!) Star Trek III: Search For Spock (Leonard Nimoy commentary was logically interesting, he made fun of Shatner a lot which brought some humor in the commentary) School of Rock (with Jack Black and director Richard Linklater is the good one, the track with the kids in the band sucks) War of the Roses (Danny Devito was funny as hell on this commentary, I coudln't stop laughing) The Goonies (Sean Astin leaving in the middle of it stoled the whole moment!!!) That's all so far. I'll have to listen to the Freddy Vs. Jason one, didn't listen to that one yet. Haven't listened to a new commentary in a long time. |
I loved the Cast Commentary on Resident Evil.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Criterion version has 3 separate tracks. Depp/Del Toro/and the producer. 2nd is Terry Gilliam, and 3rd is Hunter Thompson. I've only heard the Depp one but it's good. I've heard that the Gilliam and Hunter ones are really good and informative as well.
Tobe Hooper and Gunnar Hanson on Texas Chainsaw Masscare isn't bad. Back to the Future trilogy has good commentary with Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Zemeckis on the Roger Rabbit dvd is good too. Super Troopers is hilarious. Clerks, both the original commentary and the new one for the 10th anniversary disc are good. Plus the commentaries on the Clerks cartoon are hilarious. |
The commentary in "Bubba Ho-Tep" is worth checking out, especially since Bruce Campbell plays Elvis doing a DVD commentary.
Futurama Season 3, The Birdbot of Ice-Katraz and Anthology of Interest II. Hilarious stuff,
Chasing Amy is pretty sweet - Smith, Mewes, Affleck, Lee and Mosier on the same track
Personally I can't bring myself to watch commentaries.
Yeah, I never saw the point of watching a two hour movie with low volume while some asshole talks over it.
The best commentary I've seen is for the 1960s "Batman" movie. Adam West and Burt Ward are f'ing hilarious.
If you two guys don't like commentaries then you have no bussiness watching wrestling. DVD commentaries and wrestling are pretty much the same thing if you think about it.

Any Bruce Campbell comentary.
The Shield DVD have some hilarious commentaries as well. Michael Chiklis (Who is a fucking legend) is much more charismatic and funnier than I imagined he would be. |

Movies, do not. They have dialogue and music and the such. So then when I attempt watching commentary it annoys me because I end up trying to watch the movie but can't. It's not that I don't like stuff about movies... I mean I watched all the extras on the LotR extended DVDs... |

The point of commentaries aren't to watch the movie however, but rather to hear the comments of the cast & crew on the movie.
How High... Meth and Red are hilarious...
I liked the butter fly effect commentary cause I had to watch that to understan it.

The Fight Club commentary was pretty cool. I also like Robert Rodriguez commentaries. They're always pretty insightful. Best one so far was the Spy Kids 3-D one, which made up for crappy 3-D effects
The Goonies DVD is my FAV commentary thus far.
UHF and Ghostbusters are the best.
