Ladder 49

I just saw this today along with Shaun of the Dead and I am telling everyone out there now that they need to see this movie. This has to be one of the greatest movies that I have ever seen. I dont want to say to much for it might spoil it for some but everyone should go see this. I give it a 5/5.

GO SEE IT :y: :y: :y:

Exactly. I love Travolta.

DegenerationY 10-02-2004 02:31 AM

My friend saw it today. She said it was an amazing movie.

I don't know if I trust her judgment though

Whooo Backdraft 2004! I'll see it only cause I don't have to pay.

Shaun of the Dead, I'd see. Ladder 49 no thanks.

I don't like John Travolta that much and after seeing "Domestic Disturbance" in theater when it first came out, makes me want to see less John Travolta films. :n:

That Travolta had lost his touch. Back in the old days he was choosing very good movies, but these days his films had been shit. Sometimes I wonder if "Battlefield Earth" killed his career.

Trust me it was a very good movie. Little bit sad at times but, other then that great movie.

I'm with Shaggy on this. It was an awesome movie. I think one of the best I've ever seen.

It had the whole theatre in tears. Awesome movie.

I'll take that comment above back and scrap it, disregard that reply.

I actually went and saw the movie over the week during my vacation at Martha's Vineyard with family in a small movie theater.

I thought "Ladder 49" was fantastic. It turned out to be an amazing film and oddly enough I do see some Oscar nominations happening in this film. Jaquin's acting was very good. This is his best acting yet. John Travolta's character was cool too. I was surprised of how great this movie really is, and I'm definitely buying the DVD for this film. I think the Real World girl that played Jack's wife is pretty hot looking. I suggest this movie to everyone. :)

figgered I'd give this a bump since the DVD came out today.

I thought it was an excellent excellent movie.

I know this is old, but when the hell were these "old days" of Travolta? With the exception of Pulp Fiction, he's made a lot of shit. Unless you're referring to old as in Saturday Night Fever and Grease. I like the guy and all, but really.

I enjoy Broken Arrow and Face/Off immensly, but they're, like most of his stuff, far from cinematic greatness.

ANYWAY, haven't seen Ladder 49 yet. Plan to soon.

I am surprised that so many people here liked it. The goal of the movie was to try to make us sad when we see the guy trying to manage both his professional and family life. The problem is that we can't feel for the him. He never asks himself any questions. The movie does not make us understand what he feels, why he want to do that job, or what he did to get there.
