NFL Week 5 Thoughts

First of all. Wordlifemutha, sensei...... 4-and 0 4 and 0!!!!!!!

Anyways, the Pats did what we all that they would despite Brady going 7-19 76 yards. I've come to the conclusion that it's not that the Pats are that much better than everybody, it's that Bill Bellichick is that much smarter than everybody.

The lions upset the Falcons. Kinda surprised there.

Boy is Culpepper ever freakin amazing.

Congrats to all you Patriot fans out there.. The streak is amazing. But anyway my thoughts: Giants are just surprising me every week. I dont know what it is. Surprised at the Falcons game.. And Culpepper is sick 394 passing yards.. I Miss My Birds... :'(

Gertner 10-10-2004 08:25 PM

I think the Giants are definitley for real. I wasn't really down on them for the year, due to the fact that they still have good weapons. It all depended on their secondary, which as been great. Plus they have a great turnover ratio.(13-3)

Rain Man 10-10-2004 08:43 PM

Seattle Seahawk Fans= Eagles Fan Wannabes.. Yeah Miz you heard me

Rain Man 10-10-2004 08:46 PM

BCWWF 10-10-2004 09:19 PM

Nobody believed me when I said the Rams were going to be bad this year

The Miz 10-10-2004 09:20 PM

I knew it from the beginning. NFC West = shittiest division in the NFL.

The Miz 10-10-2004 09:20 PM

VonErich Lives 10-10-2004 09:27 PM

Can't wait for next weeks game, will put the Pats to a real test.

If they make all the stupid penatlties they have been making they're going to lose.

Very much so. No reason the Rams should have come back the way they did.

Savio 10-10-2004 10:01 PM

and the winners are............Rams!

Apprentice 10-10-2004 10:03 PM

In lesser news, the Cardinals choked big time as well.

Crimson 10-10-2004 10:09 PM

lol what a late comeback by the Rams. Next week Seawahks at Pats .

I still don't think the Giants are this good, the Cowboys went for it on 4th down twice and didn't convert, that cost them like 10 points. Tiki is their MVP though, and with a weak NFC they can make the playoffs and take another first round loss.

DegenerationY 10-10-2004 10:31 PM

NINERSSSSSS

OssMan 10-10-2004 10:36 PM

yeah, the Giants are fucking amazing. now all the Redskins have to do is lose

el fregadero 10-10-2004 10:38 PM

Jacksonville's "amazing" defense gave up 100 yards to LT's backup. :|

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-10-2004 11:20 PM

Pats kidddddd

LOL after the game on the local network, you can vote for player of the game and everyone voted for P.K. Sam (rookie reserve WR who I think only had 1 catch) it was fucking hilarious. The announcers got all pissed

I think everyone voted for Sam becuase one of the announcers was going nuts saying its no doubt that Harrison was the player of the game (which he really was) but it was still pretty hilarious seeing P.K. Sam getting like 45% of the votes

el fregadero 10-10-2004 11:50 PM

P.K. Sam is good shit, he just isn't getting any spotlight because the Pats have like 5 good receivers.

Rain Man 10-11-2004 12:14 AM

WOW.. Seattle fucked up big time...
Jacksonville lost too...
the 49ers won...

Y2Ant 10-11-2004 12:26 AM

Minnesota/Indianapolis

Mewelde Moore had a pretty awesome game. As did Culpepper/Moss/Robinson :o

HeartBreakMan2k 10-11-2004 12:41 AM

My Panthers aren't doing shit this season. Still gonna support though. Maybe things will change a bit when Davis gets healthy again.

Yeah not denying that, just funny how they voted for him

But I think he made a bad move coming out of college early. I think he would have been a higher pick if he waited a year to come out. I like him being on the Patriots though, adds depth to an already pretty impressive reciever lineup. Especially this year since there has been a lot of injuries. It will be intresting though once everyone is healthy, I dunno how much PT he will be getting then.

The first time didn't really hurt them, considering the Defense held the Giants to a 3 and out, and scored a touchdown right after. But yeah, that second one killed them.

Good job by the Giants coming out and pretty much owning the Cowboys in the second half.

I'd hope so, since DeShaun Foster broke his collarbone :$

OssMan 10-11-2004 01:50 AM

YES

17-10 Ravens

RP 10-11-2004 02:52 AM

Colts held the #2 offense in the league to 14 points.. forced 3 turnovers. One defensive touchdown, and 4 sacks.

If they play half as good as they did today on defense they wont lose the rest of the year.

Culpepper is sick. Manning could have put 5 td's up today if they werent focused on running the ball ( Edge 32 car for 132 yrds 1td )

Seahawks are overated. Have fun losing by 20 to the pats next week .

Have the Giants beat anyone good this year?

Ed Reed = Defensive Player of the Year. Thx.

Few observations so far.

Also, Detroit = the man

Only caught parts of the game (stupid work), but wooooooooooooooooo. It's nice to see them beat a good team this early in the season. Hopefully they can put that Philly game behind them and perform this well defensively against an under-achieving Packers next week

Question for you guys:

I was watching the Bills-Jets game, and after the Jet's kicked a field goal to go up by 2, the Bills drove to around the 40-50 yard line. My Question is this: Why do teams go for the Hail Mary all the time when there at the Fifty? The teams kicker's, kick the ball off from the 30-35 yard line on kickoffs and most of them go into the endzone, so why not attempt a field goal kick and let your kicker unload on it? My guess would be the percentage of hitting it is better than a hail mary. If a team kicks of from the 35 and it goes 5 yards deep in the endzone, thats a 70 yard kick. If your at the fifty and after the snap of about 7-8 yards, your looking at a kick of about the same distance. I just don't see what team's have to lose by not letting your kicker unload on one. Chances are you're going to lose anyway, so why not try?

If your at the 50, it's 60yds to the post from the line of scimmage, plus about 7yds for the spot of the kick... that's a 67. Not forgetting you need the ball to be 10feet high to clear the crossbar and never mind the accuracy...

Plus, most kickoffs don't reach the endzone, if they do, it's -5yds deep and usual has a bounce or is on a sharp down angle. If a kicker was getting the ball 5yds deep on every kickoff or a majority, he'd be the highest paid kickoff specialist in the histroy of the NFL.

Yeah, I understand your point, but the odds are a lot more difficult, plus being only 50 yds from the endzone, isn't really a hail mary for most QB's, you can get someone on a fly pattern or a deep post or flag... even a play like the Rams used to use w/ a deep hook and latter.

Gonzo 10-11-2004 12:40 PM

Also, kicking from a tee and off the ground, huge difference.
