Changing my mind about CCC

You know, I didn't watch the Smackdown where Carlito won the US Title, but I'm going to have to reverse my opinion about his win. Originally, I was dead set against it.

However, Carlito has a great look to him, and he has future main eventer written all over him. Sure, his gimmick is cheezy as hell, but Hunter had his Terra Ryzing, and The Rock had his Flex Cavana.

As for the loss of the US Title: well, it's a bit tough that Cena lost it, like, two days after the whole Booker T/John Cena series, but I can see how it was necessary. The thing is, lately in the Year of JBL, the US Title was far more prestigious than the actual WWE Undisputed Title. This may not seem like such a bad thing, but the main reason for the existence of belts like the US and the Intercontinental is to push mid-carders toward the upper mid-card or perhaps the main event. The US Title was way too good for either Booker or Cena.

This frees up Booker and Cena to get involved in feuds with guys like Taker, Angle, Eddie, or JBL, while a whole new set of mid-carders, who would have no chance against the likes of John Cena, can now set their sights on a more beatable Carlito Carribean Cool. Hell, Rey Mysterio and Paul London can probably now leave the whole cruiserweight scene and challenge the Triple C. They can throw RVD in the mix too, I suppose. Frankly, I think an RVD vs. CCC would be a whole lotta fun to watch.

Ferocious 10-10-2004 09:50 PM

I doubt anything with RVD on WWE TV will ever be fun to watch, Theres no doubt he's a great talent, but not in the WWE. He's had to tone it down to far and uses the same few spots every match.

Spinning heel kick
That funky spinning stepover kick
Rolling Thunder
Five Star Frogsplash
Pin

And an occasional spinning legdrop from the apron to the railing.

BigDaddyCool 10-10-2004 10:23 PM

Yeah, but then again, RVD never really wrestled. He is a pure striker with little bits of grappling thrown in.

Mr. Nerfect 10-12-2004 08:13 AM

I think Carlito Carribean Cool will go really far. I think the US Title is the first step in that. There just really seems to be energy flowing from the kid. He reminds me of a hybrid of Kurt Angle and The Rock. Certainly not a bad combination by any means.

Hired Hitman 10-12-2004 08:23 AM

Angles face and The Rock's tan :D

I'm impressed with the guy and everything, but I still think that debuting with a title win is no good for anyone.

Fox 10-12-2004 12:03 PM

All I can ask is "Why?"

Why the fuck did they have to name him "Carlito Carribbean Cool" ???

El Santo 10-12-2004 01:41 PM

We're going to call him "Triple C" down the road anyway. It's not like Triple H uses the "Hunter Hearst Helmsley" monniker much nowadays. (Which, come to think of it, is also kinda lame. He's a wrestler named "Helmsley"?)

More likely they'll just drop the last two C's, and he'll just end up as "Carlito."

Loose Cannon 10-12-2004 08:59 PM

I love the name. He delievers it well on the mic.

**looks at camera: Carlito

**looks towards fans" Carribean

**raises eyebrow: Cool

it's so "Rock," but it works.

i suppose your right. coz if you think about it gail kim one the woman's title and then didnt do much after that, same as christian winning the light heavywieght and then being put into E and C

Hired Hitman 10-13-2004 01:47 AM

His name is Carlito Cool, nicknamed Carribbean.

So he is called

Carlito "Carribbean" Cool

Fox 10-13-2004 08:44 PM

Still, mad gay.

Triple C would be a sick name, but Triple H will never allow it. Even if he dies. He'll put it in his will.

"Document 354: Carlito Carribbean Cool shall not be known as Triple C, even after my departure into the nether realm. Cause I am that damn good."

The CyNick 10-14-2004 12:49 AM

I think at some point he'll just be Carlito Colon, but that'll be down the road if he catches on and turns face.

For now, Carlito.... Carribean.... Cool is annoyingly great.

LOL....

Things I look for in wrestlers and their ability to be good is their 'realism' in the ring. I don't think I've seen many debutants sell as well as he does. Love that dazed look that Carlito does.

Seems to me that they are building him as one of these resilent heels who always managaes to win in the end, much like Michaels in his early singles days.

It's not the worst gimmick in the world. It's a comedy heel almost, remember Cena's gimmick at the beginning looked and sounded ridiculous, now look at him. It's got potential to turn face, and be a popular face - again, much like Cena.

Any finally, how many wigs like his hair are the WWE gonna sell? Many. That's cool.

Somehow I can see him going back to his real name, Carlos Colon with a cocky heel-type gimmick wearing the suits and such.

Gouda 10-16-2004 05:08 PM

I love his look.

I lover his accent.

I love his music.

I love his shirt.

Most importantly...

I love his apple! He should start using it as in illegal object in his matches!

JR: BAHGAWD CARLITO WITH THE APPLE TO THE HEAD!!!! BAHGAWD IT EXPLODED!!! APPLE JUICE EVERYWHERE!!!

Mr. Nerfect 10-16-2004 06:57 PM

I really love this guy's abilities and his character. I'm really hoping for a feud with Eddie Guerrero. BTW, how interesting would it be if Angle/Luther/Jindrak came out first on SmackDown!, and then out followed CCC, who cut a promo about how Angle's cool, and how he wants to join their stable? The Angle says no, and CCC takes Cena's chain, and nails Angle in the face, then he ducks a Luther swing, and nails him in the gut with the chain. Jindrak then cops it in the face, and Luther gets his skull smashed in with it. Carlito then walks off saying "Now that was cool...". Angle/Luther/Jindrak don't pursue Carlito, because they figure they have enough enemies as it is.

This establishes Carlito as a different breed of heel. He doesn't win matches cleanly, and he thinks he's superior to the fans, but he never backs down, and he always seems to win.

MVP 10-16-2004 07:03 PM

I think having the US title on CCC for a short length is reasonable. I'd have put it on Luther Reigns or Jindrak and had CCC feud with someone else in the midcard, but not too big of a deal

Aussie Skier 10-18-2004 04:13 AM

i've just seen the two CCC smackdowns back to back, and gotta say...he is really impressive.

awesome entrance music, good speaker, kinda funny. his wrestling ability looks pretty good, aboutthe same level as john cena, orton etc...

now dat review, is.......cool.
carlito, caribbean, Cool

That would be the perfect way to turn him face (sans the wanting to be in the stable part). Seriouslly... if he ever becomes a face, that'll be his modified catchphrase. :D

I told you this guy was special. Okay, I didn't explicitly say it, but I've been loving him since his promos starting running, kind of like LC with Mordecai or Orton or something.

Fignuts 10-19-2004 12:10 PM

Is it just me or does Carlito sell better than half of the wwe roster right now?
I didn't get to see the Mysterio match but in his match against Cena everything that was done to him, he sold beautifuly

I loved the way he flew over the barricade when Cena catapulted him. This guy will last a long time in the industry. I really hope they keep his character though, because CCC is one of the only things I look forward to, and anticipate on SmackDown!. This guy drew a winning number with this gimmick, and his talents blended into it make almost a certain future champion.

Did anyone else feel the energy he put out into the match (Cena/CCC)? John Cena's matches with Booker T were fairly bland, and lacking that zing, while Cena and CCC managed to put on a **** match that really impressed me, and I must say I am looking forward to a rematch. I think most of it has to do with the atmosphere and energy CCC brings into the match.

I hope we see a CCC vs. Eddie Guerrero feud (with CCC going over), as I think a feud between these two would be the final nod before we see CCC as the star with the mid-card championship, which is something John Cena didn't quite reach. When Cena returns, they could have a nifty little main event feud for the championship, before Cena hotshots off and blends into the WWE Championship hunt.

I love Carlito Carribbean Cool! He is the shiznitto bam shiznatch sack, or something to that effect. I don't know what it is, but ever since his vignettes started running on SmackDown, I thought, "this guy is cool"(pun intended). I don't know, but damnit...I love...

Carlito...Carribbean...Cool. I love him because he spits in the face of people who don't want to be cool. And damnit, that's just cool.

I'll shut up now.
