Undertaker was great in the 90s...His battles with Hogan, his time with the ministry... all great times. I just didn't like when he started riding the motorcycle..

Solid 8.5

I nominate Jake the Snake for the next one.

Mr. Nerfect 10-19-2004 05:46 AM

9. The Undertaker really shows us what a gimmick is about. A guy with originally below average wrestling talent and mic skills, was turned into a dominant legend. Sometim in the near future we will be looking back at the Taker gimmick, and wishing we could experience a new guy that matches the epicness Undertaker gave us.

BTW, Undertaker would be Day 58, wouldn't he? And I again nominate Rhyno for the polls.

PerfectOne 10-19-2004 05:59 AM

I love how when a person expresses their views on a thread asking for a rating, they are shouted down and ridiculed for their opinions.

I said Randy Savage was worth a 6. I've watched wrestling since '86. I think he sucked in WWE, and I think he sucked in WCW. That is MY OPINION, and I don't like to be called a jackass and accused of never having watched a Savage match simply because you jerk off to the guy and I don't find him entertaining. If anything, anyone who would bash a person for their opinion AFTER the forum ASKED for his opinion is a jackass. I just must be a total mark, huh, cause I don't agree with people as "uber" and cool as DaveWadding and a guy who calls himself a "Loose Cannon."

I love how opinions are ridiculed unless they meet your own opinions. Way to try to see things from another perspective, jackasses. I've been on this board as PerfectOne before the board change since 2000, and afterwards since 12/03, and this is one of the reasons I don't bother posting. Because this board is full of jackasses who are convinced that their bullshit opinions somehow are better than everyone else's.

As for undertaker, I found him boring as Mean Mark Callus. I found him entertaining as the Undertaker in the WWE's early 90's. I find him somewhat boring now. Like Shawn Michaels, he's past his prime and should be pushing new talent a little bit more. I would still mark out if he won a Hell in a Cell at wrestlemania for the title, and I would love if he retired as champ.

Rating - 8

Dave Youell 10-19-2004 06:27 AM

6 from me, would be lower apart from the huge mark he will leave on the biz.

He wrestling skills are average
His Mic work is average

The only thing that really got him over was the fact that he was fairly big and had a decent gimmick that was really over, anyone could have do what he does, he was just in the right place at the right time.

Hey man, I'm sorry if you feel so upset about it, but the fact is I think every score affected the total rating for that wrestler, so guys who feel justifyed in giving the man an unbiased 8 or 9 feel a 6 was uncalled for. Besides I think the whole concept behind these threads is to discuss their talent, not their popularity, or your opinion. Randy Savage made the top ten, so let's start a
fresh slate with Mark Calloway's "The Undertaker".

I hope you stick around, as you seem a guy with an independant sense of wrestling, as well as a guy who can deal with what the company deals out.

Dave Youell 10-19-2004 06:43 AM

I agree with Perfect One on this, at the end of the fay he's hardly trolling as a troll would give a 1 or 2, and not everyone is a big Savage fan, i'm not i only gave the guy a 7, because it's all about opinions.

On a side note, you'd the tallying be better if it was done on an average score rather than a total number of votes colected as some days more people visist the site than others. Just a thought

Funky Fly 10-19-2004 06:47 AM

Ring ability: 8 (earlier in his career he could fly pretty well for a big man)
Overness: 10
Work rate: 10
Politics: 3
Mic skill: 8
Overall rank: 7.8

I'll round him up to a solid 8, just because I respect his legacy.

CosaNostra 10-19-2004 07:18 AM

Why 3 for politics Funky?

Azriel 10-19-2004 07:27 AM

10. Huge Taker mark baby!

Evil Vito 10-19-2004 07:43 AM

Don't do it often, but 10. Huge mark for the man with possibly the greatest gimmick ever.

Also, if possible, I'd like to nominate The Road Warriors as a tag team.

LK 10-19-2004 07:46 AM

9 - In my view one of the greatest characters ever and in his prime Taker could put on very decent matches

Disturbed316 10-19-2004 07:57 AM

8.5

Shawshank 10-19-2004 07:57 AM

8.8 legend in the 90's but IMO they have used him wrong as of late and i know i shouldnt mark him down because of the scrip writting i cant help but feel that he isnt playind the dead man character as good as he once did, like i say weather that be down to the writting or the man himself i dont know.

SuperSlim 10-19-2004 08:39 AM

I give the deadman a 10. He was the original reason why I started watchin WWF back in '92 and I got much respect for all he's done in the business.

Molly fan 25 10-19-2004 08:53 AM

I would give him a 9, though I hated his biker gimmick now I kind of wish he'd go back to it so we could get rid of High Plains Drifter Taker. I nominate Al Snow, so I can once again state that he sucks.

Aussie Skier 10-19-2004 09:02 AM

Ability: 7 - nothing special, quite good for a hoss tho
Mic skills/charisma: 9, looses a bit because his mic skills arent all that special...but his in ring charisma was great!
Overness: 10
Finisher: 8.5 - the tombstone is brilliant, one of the greatest moves of all time. BUT, the last ride is kinda...meh
Entrance: 10 - his entrance to the ring is phenomenal! At the melbourne show, i got shivers seeing it...truly awesome!
Look: 10

9, although I'm gonna boost that to 9.3 because of his legacy

Imagi-Nation 10-19-2004 09:38 AM

ONe of the main reasons for watching wrestling so long, his Ministry Stint was amazing. Nothing helped push Austin further up the ladder than his feud with Taker!

Xero 10-19-2004 10:10 AM

Ring ability: 7.5
Overness: 9
Work rate: 8
Politics: 6
Mic/Charisma: 8.5
Finisher(s): 9.4
============
And the final rating IS: 8.06666- rounded to 8.1

Even though I'm a Taker mark, I went with the ratings system... If I hadn't, he would have gotten a 10 ;)

Goulet 10-19-2004 10:49 AM

I nominate The Big Show for tomorrow's poll

ps. Yes for DiBiase

BigDaddyCool 10-19-2004 11:54 AM

Hmmm, I'm a huge phenom mark...what the hell, 9.9

He would have a 10, but that Taker vs Taker match sucked so bad.

For the next poll. Buff Bagwell.

123 kid 10-19-2004 11:56 AM

9.4 not much he hasn't achieved in the WWE, not THAT great in ring skills, but they're good enough. His lord of darkness gimmick was excellent, I mean I was frightened of the guy! (bare in mind I was only 7 or 8!)

9.4 for a legend.

Sickboy 10-19-2004 11:58 AM

Nowadays = 7.6

Before the biker gimmick = 9

you choose which one you like

He's got a lot of pull backstage, that's why. Although I don't think he really whines about jobbing, he still uses his sway. I think guys should only get a low politics score if they really abuse it (ie. Hogan, Kevin Sullivan), but Taker doesn't really do anything too harsh that I'm aware of.

I give the Phenom a 9.2 overall.

Thats what I figured. He is a solid guy for putting over others consistently. And from what it seems like to me, he certainly has pull with the upper crust. Yet he also has pull with the other wrestlers too because they respect his accomplishments and experience. And if he uses his influence to benifit himself a little, well, why not, I think he deserves it. Who wouldn't? Especially considering how others have and are still abusing theirs WAY beyond the scope that Taker ever has.
