Windows XP Service Pack 2
Yeah, so I am installing this right now and its copying something and this is what came up
"Setup cannot copy the file winhlp32.exe" Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert 'Windows XP Service Files' in the drive you specify. So, what is this all about and what do I do to fix it? |
Not sure about that, but I know that those Window's Service packs always fuck something up on my computer whenever I downloaded one. It killed my internet connection for about a week and fucked up one of the USB ports. So I tend to stay away from them if I can.
|
Are you installing it from a CD? Maybe the CD is scratched or something. Dunno.
|
If I'm not wrong, you can prolly just skip that copying of that file and continue with installation. Shouldnt have any error.
|
Nah, its not from a CD or anything, its just Automatic Live Update or whatever.
And yeah, I was thinking of just skipping that file but I wasn't positive if it would affect it at all or if I needed it. |
dont install service pack 2
|
When is 2a coming out?
|
is there even a 2a? I havent read about it anywhere, i tend to keep up with all the news.

You should disable your firewall and anti-virus when updating SP2. It's been a common source of problems for people installing it.
|
Hope you have a legal copy of XP, coz my flatmates brothers mate got fucked because they traced it was a dodgy copy of XP when he downloaded service pack one.
Not that the above has any relevance to your question.s |
SP1 was easy to get around,
to install SP2 on a pirate copy you should read this thread http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?t=16321 |
My brother installed Service Pack 2, and it messed with his firewall settings, and caused a lot more problems than it was worth.
