HAHA. TNA Press Release on WWE

TNA issued the following press release:

TNA TO ISSUE “APOLOGY” TO VINCE McMAHON AND WWE

November 12, 2004 (Nashville, TN) In response to media reports about a misunderstanding that occurred at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL this past Wednesday -- TNA Entertainment issued an apology to Vince McMahon and WWE for what was apparently a mistakenly perceived “hostile” act.

In recent months, Universal Studios and TNA have become the epicenter of the wrestling world. Last Sunday at Victory Road, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and “Macho Man” Randy Savage made their dramatic returns to professional wrestling. Even the immortal Hulk Hogan was backstage and also witnessed the electricity of that historic night. Two days later, during a TV taping for iMPACT!, Diamond Dallas Page made a surprise return to the ring.

This past Wednesday, Vince McMahon and all the top stars of WWE were at Universal Studios, just feet from TNA’s Sound Stage 21, to film a commercial.

TNA staff was elated that the WWE was coming to their home. While filming vignettes that day for TNA’s upcoming pay-per-view, “Turning Point”, TNA Superstars 3 Live Kru, Traci, Abyss and “The Franchise” Shane Douglas decided to offer some hospitality and welcome WWE to their home. Carrying cookies and balloons, they approached the WWE talent during a break in their shooting. However, the congenial welcome was met with ungracious resistance. The WWE talent immediately withdrew to their studio, where they remained sequestered behind closed doors.

WWE has filed a formal letter of complaint with Universal Studios. One senior WWE official even sent a production assistant to TNA Soundstage 21 and delivered a verbal warning that if any WWE talent was filmed by TNA, “we will sue your f------ a--.”

“I was disheartened,” said “The Franchise” Shane Douglas. “If our kind gesture was mistakenly perceived as threatening and hostile, we sincerely apologize.”

Even the monster Abyss, in a rare melancholy moment, was seen with a tear in his eye, still clutching the very same balloons that no one from WWE wanted.

“Personally, I just wanted some mahi mahi,” confessed BG James, upon seeing the elaborate WWE catering spread. “The only thing I had to eat all day was a stinking cold sandwich from my cheap free-lance producer. Now I know how the other half eats.”

Some things in life are consistent. Success breeds envy. The bully always picks on the little guy. But we all know how the story of David and Goliath ends…

LOL, they apoligized, but they were also putting over their company. Nicely Crafted :y: :y: And check out that David and Goliath line. Calling WWE out with that

It should be interesting to see how the WWE responds. TNA may have bitten off more than they could chew.

Any Publicity is Good Publicity for TNA.

If TNA can get WWE to write something about them, that will be good.

I agree with you, but if WWE does something dirty like stealing talent, or taking timeslots. I don't think they would, but TNA had better be careful not to turn things into a war just yet.

Funky Fly 11-12-2004 09:35 PM

Ahahahahaha, they may be fucking up with the NWA title, but damn son, TNA knows how to work a situation to their advantage. Also today's impact was probably the best one yet. My only complaint is that the show needs to be longer to allow for better matches.

I agree. I think they should get another 2-hour timeslot as well. Sort of like the way the old WWE was with RAW and SmackDown! before the split. Then you have Xplosion and another show get taped before each Impact!/other show so you have four nights of TNA a week.

This allows them more time, more room for talent, more matches, more development and better PPVs if they're booked right.

Loose Cannon 11-12-2004 09:44 PM

yea, it's real funny. Every time I've watched Impact it seemed to just drag on and on and on. Today, I see AJ Styles come out and I'm like, "They should put AJ in the main event, what are they doing"? I look at the clock and it's like 3:50  I was like "Oh shit."

Yea, they need to 2 hr slot to give guys interview time to develop characters. Interviews is how you do that.

But I think the one thing that kind of turned me off of Impact before (and I just thought of this today) was that it was all like X-Division style mathes almost. You had all these matches with guys doing those spot moves and I just can't watch that over and over. Also, there was never any good interview segments or backstage stuff. You throw wrestling out there for an hour and nobody will watch.

i wonder if the whole thing is a work. what was vince doing filming right next to were tna does there tapeings? i think vince wants to help out tna.

KayfabeMan 11-13-2004 12:40 AM

Very good move :y: :y:

Stickman 11-13-2004 12:39 PM

I found the insincerity of tna in that letter to be hillarious. I see the wwe doing nothing.

BigDaddyCool 11-13-2004 01:21 PM

Why is it that I don't believe that Shane Douglas and friends brought cookies and ballons. Now if they brought a six pack and some fine cuban smokables...I would probably be more inclided to believe that. But cookies and ballons sounds a little childish.

ColdwaVer 11-13-2004 01:26 PM

I dunno, seems to me that Vince's ego might not let this go past unanswered.

The CyNick 11-13-2004 02:39 PM

If Vince was smart he would ignore it, they are the insignificant entity, if WWE awknowledges they all of a sudden become significant.

If TNA has footage, they have to use it!

Like I said in the other thread, even if they get sued, and ultimately it puts them out of business, hey thats probably the last chapter in their story anyway.

I'm sure there must be a way for them to use the footage and just blur out the WWE guys. The fans at the arena would know what is going on, and I'm sure they could talk about the issue without actually saying anything. It worked for WCW, and it also ended up in court, but hey desperate times call for desperate measures. I just figure showing the footage cant get them in too much trouble as long as they blur the WWE guys. Hell they could even somehow play off how all the "WWF" footage has to be blurred out. Seems like something they shouldn't let fall to the wayside.

Disturbed316 11-13-2004 03:23 PM

From the Shane Douglas quote downwards, it makes TNA seem like complete cocks if you ask me.

Was going ok untill then.

Mr. JL 11-13-2004 03:44 PM

They are getting desperate.

I just saw Victory Road and it was good but not great. Jarrett looked like shit in his match. Twice Jeff Hardy went for the 'overused' sunset flip powerbomb and Jarrett just held on and would not 'bump'. Hardy looked better than usual but still not the Hardy we saw in 2001. Jarrett just sucks. The ending of the match was cool.

Styles V. Nash was a cool moment as well. Made AJ look credible. Thats quite a feet consoidering the size differential between the two.

DDP V. Raven is awesome x 2

The crowd loves Monty Brown. PUSH HIM!!

Jarrett needs to get the shit out of the ring. I am sorry to say it but Hardy should have just stuck to his one time appearence at the 2nd year anniversary show. He is being PUSHED down the TNA fans throats. TNA pushed him down their throats so bad that he's been buried.
