Multi-time Champion (Ultimo?)?

I vaguely remember someone in WCW, I believe Ultimo, had like 14 titles at once and showed up on Nitro with them all. Did he actually hold them ALL at the same time? And did he actually defend them?

Also, did he come over when WCW had their partnership with New Japan (mentioned on the Chris Benoit DVD)?

Yeah, I think it was about 7/8 titles he held. I think they were from various promotions from Japan and maybe Mexico (not 100% sure though).

He held eight titles when he went into WCW. He beat Malenko for the Cruiserweight title, giving him a total of 9 titles... That's a record I believe.

Oh, okay. I dunno where I got 14 from.

Yeah, that would be Ultimo alright. He looked bad ass walking to ring with like 6 titles on and Sonny Ono carrying the others.

If I recall correctly, he won all those titles at the J-Cup tournament. I could be wrong, though.

Among the belts was the old WWF Lightweight Title (or whatever they called it before they brought it back for TAKA).

Really? That suprises me. I didn't know he was a WWF champion. I think I did hear that he was in WWF at one point, though.

I think he beat El Samurai for the WWF Junior Heavyweight belt during the J-Crown tournament. Not positive aboot that though.

That's what I was thinking. WWF had long abandoned that title, but whoever had it was defending it in Japan, and it became part of the J-Crown. I was thinking El Samurai, too.

It was 8 titles, 9 when he won the Cruiserweight Title at Halloween Havoc ('96, '97???), but then he lost the J-Crown towards the very beginning of the very next year in Japan.
