best Build-up in a song?
This should be a good way to find some kick ass songs.
so yeah, name your favorites. |
Nas - One Mic
That is a good rap song that goes from whispering to yelling and so on. |
silverstein - smashed into pieces
|
Basically all Tool songs have great build-ups, but I am guessing you already know their stuff.
|
Christ, any Trance song.
Tiesto - Traffic Benny Benassi" Satisfaction" Sasha and Digweed- Heaven Sent Ferry Corsten- Everything Goes Armin Van Buuren ft Justine Susissa - Burned with Desire (Remix) Tiesto ft sarah McLachlean" Delierium Infected Mushroom" City of the Future. I can go on and on. |
"East Hasting" by Godspeed You Black Emperor
"Ender" by Finch "Are You Sad" by Our Lady Peace "3 Libras" by A Perfect Circle Not so much on the last two, but they have a slight build to them. |
Guns and Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine"
The Who "Pinball Wizard" and Teenage Wasteland Probably the three best song intros I've ever heard, in that order. |

Nice list Doink. But as far as Meat Loaf songs go, I think Bat Out of Hell has the best build-up and Anything for Love at second.
|
Oh man, Baba O Riley is the greatest.
November Rain Free Bird Right Now |
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
|
Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored
|
I love the intro to Welcome By The Jungle by Guns n Roses

Nirvana "aneurysm"
Melvins "honey bucket"..this song kicks my ass. Matthew Good "avalanche" Tool "eulogy" Soundgarden "Jesus Christ Pose" Mad Season "Wake Up" |
I'm not a great Guns n Roses fan, but in terms of building a song up then pretty much stopping it and restarting it in one song, it's hard to beat Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, Sweet Child o Mine etc.
|
Korn's "Faget" seems to be doing it for me at the moment.
|
"At the Stake" the Melvins
"Bury me In Smoke" Down "Binge and Purge" Clutch Any Death (RIP Chuck) |
Led Zepplin "Stairway to Heaven"
|
U2- Where the Streets Have No Name has an awsome build up...even more so live.
|
Finch-What It Is To Burn
|
Cursive - Sierra (after the bridge)
Senses Fail - Steven (at the start) Matchbook Romance - Playing For Keeps (mid way through the song with violins and niceness) Matchbook Romance - Your Stories, My Alibis (after one of the choruses, the guitar appegio break down into the power scream chorus </>) Millencolin - The Ballad (switch from acoustic beauty to electric betterness) Taking Back Sunday - One Eighty By Summer (2:12, "she said live up to your first impression *church bell*... etc. Beautiful.) The Mars Volta - Televators ("Pull the pin... save your grace... mark these words on his grave" repitition and addition of harmonics </>) Uhh... That'll do me for now. :$ |
Also, Thrice - Kill Me Quickly (with the bass and guitar appegios before going back into the chorus </>)
|
Fuck, and I forgot the granddaddy of them all...
