Oh God Dammit!!!! Heyman removed from booking team

Major Writing Team shake-up sees Paul Heyman removed from team...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Just a few minutes ago the decision was made to remove Paul Heyman. There have been no other details released as of yet, other then the fact that the removal was something that had been building and was not due to one specific incident.

Interestingly enough, in September, the ratings were at the lowest point in the show's history, and within 2 months, the ratings were at the highest level in more than a year, yet Heyman has been removed.

Word came in today that Paul Heyman was officially released from his position as WWE writer for RAW and SmackDown! earlier today.

^^^

Thats what I read so that is why I gave the Raw numbers

Mr. Nerfect 12-03-2004 04:57 PM

That's stupid if it's true. Especially if he is kept on a censored leash, he can do wonderous things with talent, and the basic layout for the show.

I really wish the writing teams would split into two, be given independence and are kept 100% seperate from anyone who isn't Vince McMahon or some part of management.

PorkSoda 12-03-2004 05:01 PM

WWE sure are smart. Good move :y:

Not. They probably replaced Heymen with like....Triple H's second ego or something. Ahh well, fuggin stupid.

Gouda 12-03-2004 05:03 PM

I remember back in the days when he had full control of Smackdown. It was great. Then he got removed from the position because he wanted the WWE title and NOT the Vince/Mr. America fued to be the centre of the show. :nono:

Probally replaced him with Triple H's dog that Chris Jericho ran over a few weeks before Mania X8.

Now I wanna know who wrote that shit?

The One 12-03-2004 05:14 PM

Another brillient move Vince! You see Paul was coming up with interesting storylines that didn't involve "Bawh Gawd Stunners!", your son-in-law or your grapefruits...so yeah...clearly needs to be done away with.

LK 12-03-2004 05:18 PM

Not really anything to say but :nono:

I don't know if that's true, but that's a damn shame if it is. The Heavyweight Title on each brand should the focus of the show. Mr. America was an angle I didn't get to witness (because Australia dropped SmackDown! for a while), but I heard it was just to carry on the Hogan/McMahon feud which was pretty much dead after WrestleMania XIX. I would have preferred it if after Mania XIX Hogan became McMahon's new corporate lacky. Combine him with Brock Lesnar, and what not, and you could have had a decent heel stable. One that was just screaming for a Rock return.

But anyway, Heyman had some great ideas, and was gold on the mic. Hopefully they stop trying to put a leash on him or release him. I honestly don't know whether or not Heyman would be willing to work for Jerry Jarret (something tells me no), but Heyman being added to the announce team, and writing storylines equals ratings. The WWE should consider Heyman a blessing. Because they have the safety of benefitting from his creativity, while staying safe from his tendency to go a bit overboard with expenses, etc.

dalegendkilla 12-03-2004 05:31 PM

Did Heyman write for WWE, what other wrestlers write for it?

Heymans still gonna be on smackdown right?

Gone Mad 12-03-2004 05:43 PM

I'll say it again...

Paul Heyman = F'N RATINGS!

Innovator 12-03-2004 06:20 PM

WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHY GOD WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heyman didn't have enough shit jokes for Cena to use, so he was removed

The Mackem 12-03-2004 06:28 PM

So if he isn't doing this anymore, what is his role in the company now?

He's too much of a liability. Heyman, as a writer/booker/promoter is too dangerous if he's not under WWE control. He could do some major shakeups for the wrestling business if he was not doing nothing for the WWE.

I bet he'll just be Heidenreich's manager with no real authority.

Anybody Thrilla 12-03-2004 08:27 PM

You guys don't even know why he was removed.

The Mackem 12-03-2004 08:34 PM

You're right I don't.

Anybody Thrilla 12-03-2004 08:56 PM

I don't know either, but I'm just saying, perhaps it was justified.

The CyNick 12-03-2004 08:56 PM

Yeah who can figure WWE logic.

Maybe they see that ratings are staying at a higher level than they were, so they figure, get rid of Heyman so he cant take any credit.

Or maybe he said to push Benoit, and that got him fired.

Excellance of Execution 12-03-2004 09:27 PM

Heyman should go be a booker for TNA. I think he could really put them on the map, as long as he just sticks to booking and that's it.

He is a good writer. And he's proven in the past that he can do a lot without big names. I'd be interested in what he could do for somebody like Mikey Batts.

Actually, now that I think about it, doesn't this whole DDP/Raven/Watts situation seem sort of Heymanesque?

Johnny Vegas 12-03-2004 11:18 PM

Man, this is horseshit. Heyman needs to just be let loose and do the booking for Smackdown! AND RAW..This is exactly why the WWE sucked ass last year, Heyman had little-say. I know he is really starting to get pissed right now

Wildcat789 12-03-2004 11:24 PM

Heyman could book a melted turd and Kelsey Grammar's bad haircut into 3.8 ratings.

mike627 12-03-2004 11:34 PM

Could it be punishment for the ECW DVD doing so well and the long time WWE fans noticeing the crap product that Vince and the boys have been puting out.

MVP 12-04-2004 12:43 AM

Terrible, just terrible. I didn't think WWE could get any dumber. :nono:

What Would Kevin Do? 12-04-2004 12:52 AM

Heyman is a genius..

I'm wondering if it has something to do with future booking security. Think about it, if Heyman stays on for good, once Vince ultimately steps down, he'll have been on awhile, and he may actually have pull, be able to actually argue his ideas..

If he's not on there, when Vince steps down, it basically leaves Vince a clean platter of yesmen for the new era of Steph and Jean Paul

I think he became an advisor for both just recently. It's a shame he was removed, because h could really write, and given some room he could write some decent angles for RAW and SmackDown!. I think they should give him booking control of Heat and Velocity personally. :y:

I would love to see Heyman wiritng Rhyno, Tajiri, The Dudleys, RVD, Nunzio, Snitsky, Hurricane, Rosey, Akio, Ultimo Dragon, Funaki, Val Venis and Kane into storylines. That man could do anything with anybody.

More on Heyman's removal from SD writing team, Tough Enough, more
» Reported by Adam Martin of WrestleView.com
» On Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 7:17 PM EST

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- With no replacement in the plans yet for Paul Heyman on the SmackDown writing team, it leaves David Lagana by himself writing the show yet again. As we noted yesterday, the move to pull Heyman off the writing team was said to be very sudden. From what is known, a majority of the reason for his removal had to do with Stephanie McMahon, who is in charge of the creative department for WWE.

- It appears Vince McMahon was behind the idea to do the cross dressing segment on SmackDown this past week with the remaining Tough Enough contestants.

- Although not confirmed, it appears Time Warner could be picking up the new WWE 24/7 On Demand service in March of 2005.

Additional notes about Paul Heyman & creative team + WWF.com URL
» Reported by Adam Martin of WrestleView.com
» On Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 1:49 AM EST

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- As previously noted on WrestleView, Paul Heyman was removed from the WWE creative team on Friday. Heyman attended the booking meeting at the tapings this past Tuesday in Richmond and was sitting between head writer David Lagana and director Kevin Dunn. No incident took place at the meeting that would have hinted at Heyman's removal.

Although Heyman wasn't the head writer, he was a very vocal member of the writing team in the past few weeks. It is no secret that he is known for not being a "yes man" and likes to put in his own thoughts. Obviously the McMahon's do not like that as evident in the recent hiring of Tom Chehak, who is no doubt a corporate type.

---------------

So it appears he's still on the team then, just not in charge, so it's not all bad

Mr. Nerfect 12-05-2004 04:43 PM

But why have a writing team if you are not goning to let them write? I mean if their role is to be yes-men, you may as well have Vince & Stephanie write the shows and let them see for themselves that these people were made writers because they know hoe to write.
