Title History on WWE.com

There is now a title history section on WWE.com. On the main page there is an advertisement for the WWE Tag Team Championship history, and when you access that you can click on the sidebar to visit the Intercontinental Title history.

thank god, once they put up the former world champions before triple h, i can finally have solid proof that the world title is the wcw title.

While the WWE Tag Team Championship only dates back to 2002, it is still considered one of the most prestigious championships in the history of tag team wrestling.

Actually... When the Tag Titles first came on Smackdown I LOVED the division. Kurt and Bentoit, Los Guerreros, Edge & Rey, Benjamin & Haas...

The tournament and the weeks after it were the bomb.

I was still semi-interested until they started to ignore them when they were on the Bashams and when Rikishi and Scotty won them. Then I could have cared less.

It probably is considered the original title by the WWE, but I don't think they'd have straight facts either way. How is Triple H a nine-time World Heavyweight Champion then?

Honestly, what's the bet they use the words "one of the most prestegious" for nearly every one on their belts?

Also, lol @ Chyna pictured on the IC title banner. :nono:

Mr. Nerfect 12-16-2004 04:29 PM

I think they should have all the champions of each title pictured in the banners, just adjust their size so they cna all fit on.

JBL has had the longest title reign since Yokozuna in 93/94.

Really? I thought it was Shawn Michaels in '96? Oh well, the longer the reign the better, IMO.

Well sorry to burst your bubble but they put it up and.... it does not go before Triple H and he is considered the first champion!

Wow, the WWE used some sense with their championship. Smart move by the WWE. :y:

Mr. Nerfect 12-17-2004 05:18 PM

So the WWE considers the "World Championship" a rank if you will. I suspected as much, but now we have confirmation. The WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship are World Championships. So hopefully we see a bit more clarification on-screen.

Oh oh oh...and I have a real problem here....A problem within the WWE Storyline (as if anyone really cares)

here is a quote from the official website...

"Prior to Sept. 2, 2002, WWE recognized only one World Champion, and that champion represented both RAW and SmackDown! Just after SummerSlam, however, champion Brock Lesnar inked a deal to become exclusive to SmackDown!, leaving RAW without a champion. RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff then declared that since Lesnar had left for SmackDown!, that RAW needed its own champion. So with that, he opened a briefcase and pulled out the old WCW Championship and gave it to Triple H, naming him the first World Heavyweight Champion. Since that time, greats such as Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit have staked claim to the prestigious championship. "

As soonas they mention they pulled out the old WCW Title problems arose in my head, because Triple H was NOT announced the first World Heavyweight Champion...even if we take the idea that once a title is renamed it loses it's heratige, The Rock was the first World Heavyweight Champion...Per Vince McMahon's announcment on the RAW fallowing Survivor Series 2001...

Not to mention how many times have I heard "Ric Flair used to hold that very title"...

Ehhhhhhh...why do I bother, WWE doesn't give a shit about their belts, why should I?

(But to whoever asked, Triple H is a 9 time Champion...he held the WWE Title on 5 occasions and the World Heavyweight on 4)

The WCW Championship was renamed to being the "World Championship", and was unifyed with the WWE Title.

Then the empty spirited WCW Title belt (without the official history), was brought back. So in a way Ric Flair has held that belt, but he was never champion.

And yeah, Triple has won the WWE Champioship (by itself) four times, and WWE Championship (unified with the WCW Championship) once and the World Heavyweight Championship four-times.

So hopefully Triple H starts calling himself a nine-time World Champion instead of a nine-time World Heavyweight Champion.
